That was not a bad guess... 900 points wouldn't have won, but it would have made you No. 77 on the overall...
It looks like you will have too...
Only 178 hours and 45 minutes to go, though...
Have you managed to sort out premium membership for this year ?
Ho! Ho! Ho! No Christmas present yet, no... but today is Three King's Day, which was, at least until recently, the day when children in Latin America and Spain got their Christmas presents, so I know what I wished for as a present... If I don't get it now, I'll try and save my pennies for the Giro. Can't wait to see if there's been a change in the transfer rules, though... 166 hours and 30 minutes to go
Thanks enrique,
And the colour coding - green, blue, red, grey - does that correlate to stage terrain classification, or size of leading bunch, or something else?
Yep. I chose Green for Flat, Bunch Sprint Stage Results, Blue for "Medium Mountain", Red for Mountaintop Finish and Grey for "Gray Area" - in this case a hilly stage that was a little unpredictable... Totally arbitrary color scheme really... I just like to look at it later and get a feel for what kind of stages people scored highly in...
I can't wait. I can't wait. I can't wait!
it's not going to be massively different in terms of scoring, nix
Good man!
How about in terms of transfers?....
Nix, this is probably information overload, but! Here goes! Below is a table of just (!) the Top 20 in terms of Finish Line points. Whatever points any riders have above this is probably due to GC, Points, KOM, or Young Rider Jersey Classsification points, Combativity Awards, Intermediate sprint or KOM points, or just being the last man in... I know... Too much!
TDU 2013 Top Finish Line Points.jpg
Has the scoring changed for 2014?
Did the scoring change for the KOM points or was that the same from last year?
Thanks for response again enrique. No matter where TJ's points come from (and he was young 24 I think), there was no big balloon point bonus for winning GC at end of comp.
Gkam84: I understand things might change, but we will only have a little over a week to understand the game and research all the riders before TDU S1. That's a big ask for new players. So I am trying to sort out as many things as possible now.
Nix, it will all become clearer when the 2014 game it open, there is no point looking at the 2013, because things may have been changed
I can't wait!
I think his other points may have come from leading the Young Rider Classification (5 pts) and being No. 3 in the Points Classification (3 pts)...
Could someone clarify the jersey leaders / winners scoring please (or what happened last year at least).
Firstly, it says in How To Play that the jersey points are only for "grand tours". Is TDU a grand tour under your definitions? Or does this definition of grand tour equate to multi-stage race?
Secondly - it looks like jersey points were allocated after each stage in TDU last year, e.g. Greipel got 50 points after winning stage 1 - 35 (stage win) + 10 (GC leader) + 5 (sprint leader). That's OK, but what happens after the last stage. If you are the GC winner do you still only get 10 extra points the same as the GC leader after any previous stage? I would have thought you he would get some sort of bonus for actually winning GC v just leading.
I see TJ Slaghter got 25 fantasy points and came 14th in last stage 6. So maybe he got 7 pts for 14th + 10 for GC "leader", are his other points for intermediate sprints placings, or did he get a GC winner bonus above the standard 10 pts?
Well, I guess the TDU and the Tour de San Luis are overlapping this year. Does that mean only the TDU will be in the game or do we have a surprise waiting for us? By the way, I'll be happy to provide scores on any competition anyone needs help with!
Is this kind offer for past events or future events?
If it is past I would be interested in seeing fantasy scores for TDU 2013. I can find videos of stage hightlights so I know winners etc. But since I haven't played fantasy before it would be good to see how that correlates to the full fantasy scoring.
Thanks for all your responses to my questions enrique
This might look a little messy, below, but I'll try to explain. It's probably easier to read by looking at the table at the end of the post but here goes:
These are the Top 19 scorers for the TDU, ranked by total score for the whole race. There were 6 Stages. Each rider's score for the day's stage is below the Stage no.
The first value, before the rider name is the rider value, how much the rider would cost you to get for the TDU, with a budget limit of 150 credits.
Then you have their score for each stage.
The last number is their total score for the whole race.
So, Geraint Thomas was worth 21.0 credits and scored 1, 60, 44, 22, 14 and 52 points on each of the stages, for a total of 193 points.
TOUR DOWN UNDER 1 2 3 4 5 6 TOTAL
21.0 Geraint Thomas Sky 1 60 44 22 14 52 193
15.6 Tom Jelte Slagter Blanco Pro Cycling 9 34 53 16 50 25 187
11.8 Javier Moreno Movistar 50 32 11 43 16 152
36.2 Andre Greipel Lotto-Belisol 50 3 40 2 39 134
14.5 Jon Izagirre Euskaltel Euskadi 11 21 9 9 33 11 94
3.0 Daniele Pietropolli Lampre - Merida 16 30 23 1 18 4 92
20.9 Mark Renshaw Blanco Pro Cycling 35 16 31 82
12.1 Ben Hermans Radioshack Leopard 37 10 7 19 6 79
14.9 Wilco Kelderman Blanco 15 18 2 23 10 68
25.7 Philippe Gilbert BMC Racing Team 12 25 28 65
26.9 Roberto Ferrari Lampre - Merida 18 30 10 6 64
13.6 Gorka Izagirre Euskaltel Euskadi 10 15 8 20 6 59
17.9 Arnaud Demare FDJ-BigMat 47 12 59
34.8 Matthew Goss Orica GreenEDGE 30 5 22 57
35.5 Edvald Boasson Hagen Sky 14 5 33 52
3.0 Jordan Kerby University of South Australia 41 3 2 2 2 2 52
8.1 Simone Ponzi Astana 31 1 17 49
18.7 Simon Gerrans Orica GreenEDGE 9 37 2 48
14.7 Jonathan Cantwell Saxo - Tinkoff 10 25 10 45
You'll find the table above in picture format in the attachment to this post below. It's probably easier to look at there. I'd post in this post, but I'm html challenged. I've seen people post pictures within posts but for the life of me I just don't know how to do that. Can anyone show me how that works? It'd be easier to show that way
You'll have to read the scoring rules to understand the scores. For example, on Stage 1, Andre Greipel gets 50 points. 35 pts for winning the stage, 10 pts for being No. 1 on GC and 5 pts for being No. 1 in the Points Competition.
It can get complicated because people who go on breakaways can get points for KOM and sprints along the way and you also get points for your standing on the GC, PC and KOM jersey standings, etc...
Jordan Kerby got 41 points on Stage 1 by racking up a boatload of points on the KOM and Sprint points he got by going on a long breakaway alone and then he got 10 more points at the end of the stage by being the last man to cross the finish line. Breaking down everybody's points would be a nightmare, but looking at the scoring rules and the Stage Results and Jersey Standings for the Stage on cyclingnews.com should help clarify.
Here's Cyclingnews.com stage by stage coverage of the 2013 TDU:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/santos-tour-down-under-2013
You're welcome. I may have further results buried somewhere but these were the ones I could get my hands on really quickly. Hope this helps.

Thanks very much enrique,
I understand how the scoring works - but it is good to see how many points individual riders actually get in a single stage or over the event.
Also thanks for link to last year's routes and profiles ... will be useful to compare to this year's.
Thanks for responses.
Yes I'd read the "how to" but coming from fantasy afl football where we have a set 18 managers in each league I expected there might be a limit here. But if not that makes it easier for me to herd my cats.
Could someone give me a bit more info on the pricing / credits. For example:
- Is there a simple mathematical relationship between "total points last 12 months" and "current form" and "current value"?,
- How fast does the value repricing happen? Is it fast enough so that within the TDU event we are able to increase our total credits by buying low and selling high, or are stage trades just to adjust for bad choices, and to try and match your squad to the next day's terrain type.
Also will lockout times be an issue for us in Australia? The TDU stages start at 11am and finish at 3pm our time, so when would the open and closing trade periods be? Do these times change when event is in Europe such as TDF?
That's a good deal, if it includes travel arrangements, accomodations and a special events dinner hosted by you in London recognizing the winners of each competition... Perhaps you could seat me besides STEVESPRO and Gkam at the dinner table? All in jest, but, wouldn't it be nice for you to have an informal gathering to celebrate the Fantasy Cycling season end and give out little awards in person to those who can get to a location near to your headquarters? What's the Road.cc Fantasy Cycling equivalent to a "Trekkie"?
There is. It's beautiful. Dave is a mathematical genius and a design guru, both attributes I love about the man. He just won't share the formula. I asked. In October. 2012.
It exists. But it's locked up. I heard somewhere in a vault in Antartica. Guarded by trained penguin assasins. Even Snowden can't get to it.
Very fast. Actually, that's not true. Only as fast as Gkam can do it. Which is sometimes not that very fast. Just kidding. I think last year rider values were recalculated after every competition and before the next one opened.
No. At least not last year. A couple of years ago, when I played the 2011 Vuelta, I think that was possible, though. It may change, I guess.
Yes. Somehow, for me, they always end up being for the former.
I think all race deadlines for changes are meant to occur when the race starts. I don't remember how I handled the TDU transfers last year, but for the TDF I had until about 5:00am New York time to make changes every day. I think one of the ideas suggested for the 2014 season was to have the ability to preselect your transfers ahead of time. I don't know if Dave has a surprise waiting for us come January or if it will be the same as last year, though. In a sense, all any of us can do is guess the answers to your questions right now, and only be able to tell you how we played last year. There might be a ton of changes or there might be a few. Whatever happens, Gkam sure seems to know ahead of time, so maybe he'll poke his head in here and throw us a few crumbs of wisdom...
HOLY SHIT ON A STICK.....
Enrique, you've come up with a great idea....Congratulations, give yourself a pat on the back man
team Sky line up:
Geraint Thomas, Richie Porte, Philip Deignan, Chris Sutton. Bernhard Eisel, Luke Rowe and Ian Stannard
Enrique....you may be jumping the gun on the transfers....that's how it was last year.
This year, it could be different
Nix, listen to the man. He knows the rules. He's run the game. He's Gkam! 'Nuff said!
Hi,
I am from Australia, actually from a fantasy football site in Australia.
I am hoping to do Fantasy Cycling this year, and plan to attend the stages in the week of TDU. I expect a lot of others in my football leagues will want to join fantasy cycling as well.
Could you tell me how your cycling leagues work? Is there a limit on how many coaches in a league, or do we just get one league number and all use it.
Also is it right that we would get 2 free trades each night after that day's race?
FYI I've had a tweet from Orica Green-Edge that they are confirmed for TDU, but will be announcing team at time to get max publicity for the event in Aust.
You create a league, name the laegue and then decide whether you want it to be a private league or a public league. You basically then send the league number to all your "coaches" and they join the keague. The person who creates the league has to manually confirm each team entered into the league if the league is private.
See the "User leagues" section here:
http://fantasy.road.cc/howto
Yes. On longer stage races, when you have a rest day, you get 4 free trades after the stage ends before the race day. These do not expire on the rest day. Essentially you get 2 free trades for the rest day, too.
ooohhh! Not long now! I've missed this game! Canny wait for the daily excitement that is Fantasy Cycling! The football just doesn't compare!
