A road in the Fishponds area of Bristol is cordoned off this morning (Monday, January 20). Pictures show a section of Cassell Road taped off at the junction with Downend Road.
A car reportedly crashed into a wall at the junction opposite the Downend Tavern. The pictures show the damage caused to the wall with a number of fallen bricks on the pavement.
A witness said the collision took place at around 1.30pm yesterday (Sunday, January 19).
Disappointed with the guardian, tbqh.

Bbc resume normal service (it's a tree not a building though this time):
They do mention a driver at some point, but they were merely in the car when this happened.

Went past this just after it had happened, straight road, just after a mini roundabout with traffic calming all the way down the road...

It's a topsey-turvey world some times:

Presumably the three people were in the tree as there's no mention of them being in the car

A tragedy - sounds like one of those robotaxis though, are they allowed here?

The headline in the rabidly anti cycling guardian was similar.
I agree, you have to get to the fourth paragraph before there is any indication that another human being was involved in the incident.
Did you make that screenshot, and then save it, upload it, and think "that's exactly what I was going for?"
That's art.
Wrong thread - this is the car crashes into building thread, not the car crashes into tree one.
But at least it was hit by car rather than the involved in a collision with...
Well I'm guilty also, or there's precedent; as I noted three deaths reported by the BBC recently in a rather similarly-written story...
The thread police are here! We'll let you off with a warning, this time.
I red it but the grey cells didn't register - the wit was sat in my in-drey...
I think he's got a screw loose.
I think there's precedent for including any car hits any substantial permanent roadside object story.
There's a prize of a table for two at The Farmers Dog (second prize, two tables) for driverless, speed limit, flashy car, clear conditions, no-one seriously hurt.
Nul points for any "should have gone to Specsavers" comments if it's an opticians.
Bonus for buses and lorries hitting bridges?
Overhead obstacles count, but no special bonus.
Even if they're festooned with hi vis markings?
OK, OK, you get a £10 voucher to spend at the Diddly Squat farm shop.
It's confusing when your house is a tree though
I feel I set you up for that.
Welcome to Car Crashes into Building.
Not exactly a building, but car drives into swimming pool: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/cp354g1x904o. (No footage of the actual incident, just the aftermath).
The driver claims he "accidentally stepped on the gas too hard".

Seems a bit harsh to arrest the driver when it reads like the car did it all on its own.
Elderly man sentenced following serious crash in Ringwood
In April 2023 a Mercedes C-Class crashed into a car before ploughing through a brick wall on Horton Road.
Malcolm Lomas, 90 was arrested and charged with causing serious injury by careless / inconsiderate driving.
A woman from Southampton was left with life-changing injuries as a result of the crash.
Lomas was also sentenced to pay £5,018 and is banned from driving until he takes another test - seriously??
