As much as i want to do all the above mentioned races, don't forget that in the 2 month window of the cllassics we also have the following races aswell-
Paris-Nice Sun, 09 Mar 2014 Sun, 16 Mar 2014
Tirreno-Adriatico Wed, 12 Mar 2014 Tue, 18 Mar 2014
Volta Catalunya Mon, 24 Mar 2014 Sun, 30 Mar 2014
Women's World Cup Sun, 30 Mar 2014 Sat, 30 Aug 2014
Vuelta Pais Vasco Mon, 07 Apr 2014 Sun, 13 Apr 2014
Giro del Trentino Tue, 22 Apr 2014 Fri, 25 Apr 2014
Well they are definite between a couple of us. Dave's got the last word on it all. So we'll see.
The other option was to split some of the classics, So the proper classics in the normal game, extras in the premium
ahh....whack em all in!!
I'm with you, and, since most are a week apart, can we have unlimited transfers between them please?
This, they won't be tricky to pick for, not like we are dealing multiple week long tours here.
Between all races that are included in the classics there will be unlimited transfers
even in purist? asking for Forum's Scorum's UCI purposes.....actually just seen that I already foresaw this and stated earlier that purist only will not count for the classics.
The first 4, E3 and Schelderprijs are the races that may or may not be included, the other 7 are the definite ones
Personally I like the two opening weekends of Omloop/KBK and Strade Bianchi/Roma Maxima but I can see how people may find the proposed list a little cluttered.
I agree those two weekends would be great but I think for the majority of ppl a race a week strikes a nice balance as there's no overlap just my 2p though
That is not the schedule, that is just a list of races in that time period which could be classed as classics.
Some will be taken out
Will we be having them grouped together in terms of transfers/new team for purist section?
schedule looks great....it was a bit ridiclous last season with Le Samyn etc
Want a debate...
1st March Omloop
2nd March Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne
8th March Strade Bianchi
9th March Roma Maxima
23rd March Milan Sanremo
28th March E3 Harelbeke
30th March Gent-Wevelgem
6th April Flanders
9th April Scheldeprijs
13th April Paris-Roubaix
20th April Amstel Gold
23rd April Fleche Wallonie
27th April Liege-Bastogne-Liege
Debate away...*puts fingers in my ears*
Dave runs the game with help from Dr H, TER and myself...the Spring Classics is Dafydd (TOGITV) turn...he'll be the one making the final call
Tbh looking at the schedule above I'd probably go with the following purely for fantasy reasons :
2nd March Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne
8th March Strade Bianchi
23rd March Milan Sanremo
30th March Gent-Wevelgem
6th April Flanders
13th April Paris-Roubaix
20th April Amstel Gold
27th April Liege-Bastogne-Liege
Pretty much a race a week for 2 months
you can't drop Fleche-Wallone!!
Not a fan myself tbh but I can see your point
Oh, Gkam. Please do. Put one finger in each ear and the other 8 in whatever orifice may be available in your body Maybe then I'll be spared from coming across your annoying rambling! Just kidding, of course!
In talks behind the scenes. The first one that is defiantly going to be included is Milan Sanremo.
Others are being discussed before that in addition to those you mention Chris, the Roma Maxima is another.
But we'll see what comes about
Omloop and Kuurne-B-K are next weekend, so hopefully we'll find out soon (if they're on Eurosport, I hope they're included). If they're not in, the next likely candidate for first race is probably Strade Bianche on the 8th.
I hope Strade Bianche makes it. That's one cool race!
Then it's not a problem ; )
Too many and most are shite
Just pick them all, problem solved.
One of the problems we encountered last year was chopping and changing of the classics calendar. This was partly due to the terrible weather and partly because we tried to accommodate peoples wishes and get as many races in there as possible.
This year we'll pick a calendar of races that are quality races and ensure it doesn't get too crowded. If big races get missed or if the race you want isn't in there then sorry BUT that is the point to say "can we have this race next year?".
The calendar already evolves annually but changing mid-year isn't something that we want to be doing anymore because it just pisses everyone off
If you mention the word helmet in it..........nah better not
Can we not have the debate anyway?
Of course we can , that's what a forum is about , debates , banter, and generally airing views opinions and grievances
So on that note I'm hoping , kbk , strade bianchi , Roma and msr .....debate
At the moment, nothing has been decided as to which races will be in.
Dave is currently away and he will be running the spring classics. So I am sure, when he returns, he will decide which races and then we can let you know.
Until then, we don't need a great debate and lists of races that should and should not be in...I am not aiming that at you. Just in general, because this thread will go wild otherwise...
I want X, but Y is good, Z is a waste of time....
BUT, I want Z, Y is not worth it....etc
