Vuelta Pais Vasco - Stage 2

Three changes for me today after a fairly solid start.

Betancur, Slagter and Salerno out, Swift, Matthews and Ratto in.

I assume everyone is banking on a sprint today?

Orica were really bigging themselves up for today, I think Impey has won stage 2 for the last 2 years so they are going for the hat-trick. So hopefully they'll convince a few others to chase...

Going with the former -after 62km 2'15. the tweet was 14 minutes after the 50km tweet inferring a 50kph peloton speed

#itzulia After 50km G Izaguirre, Dupont, Jungels, Malacarne, T Martin, Bakelants and Monfort have 2'40" on peloton. Westra abandons

Either the break are keeping the gap low in order to deter the peloton from bringing them back in too early or this break might not last as long as we think.

Maybe BMC and OGE will do some work! here's hoping!

The break is:
Gorka Izagirre
Jungels
Monfort
Malacarne
Bakelants
Dupont

and..erm... Tony Martin 103

I don't see that coming back. Jungels is highest in GC at 4.15 back. Saxo won't chase, Movistar and OPQ have someone in the break. Are Sky and OGE really going to try and kill themselves to chase down Tony?

Decided not to go for Swift or Matthews and just go for GC/mountains points in this one, with the exception of Koldo and Polanc.

I did take a 30 point hit last night though.

First break, 2:20 up on the peloton...

Jan Polanc (LAM)
Michal Kwiatkowski (OPQ)
Alejandro Valverde (MOV)
Alberto Contador (TSB)
David Arroyo (CJR)
Matteo Montaguti (ALM)
Koldo Fernandez (GRS)
Davide Villella (CAD)
Jean-Christophe Peraud (ALM)

I wish!

Swift and Matthews in for me. Already had Kwiato in, not taking any pens.

Swift, Matthews and Ratto in for me too. (Valverde, Gilbert and Fairly out). Normally I would bring in the KOM leader (Villella) after stage 1, but have decided against it this time, so really hoping he's not in the break.

Maybe they'll send Salerno up instead? 3
