Dating

Ok, so a bit of a random post but go with me on this one. Was wondering if there any type of dating/match making sites for people who love to cycle? And if there, which are the good ones?

I have ridden past good looking women before and turned round and asked for their number...

I did that; it was my mum.

Seriously, if you want to be a cyclist, be a cyclist. Stop trying to use your hobby as a way to get a girlfriend ffs....

Heh, when last I was on the dating scene I went for a date with a woman who had a few urban QOMs on some of my commutes. Nice person as she was, she wasn't for me.
My current and hopefully forever beloved is a sporty type - she's into climbing - and our dual obsessions do intertwine quite well. Apart from the obvious understanding of hobbies which take up hours at a time, and helping motivate each other with food, exercise and whatnot... guess where both hobbies are at their best? MOUNTAINS. So our holidays are ace.... though we kind of come home needing a holiday to recover.

In London the Look Mum No Hands cafes run cycle speed dating events. I don't know if there are cycling specific dating websites but you might do as well by searching for people interested in cycling on a general dating website.

I met my wife via match.com, and as a combined result of that and sports-related stuff, google used to show me loads of 'cycling singles' ads, so they are out there. Dunno if they're any good.

More importantly though, you sure you want to share that part of your life too? Going out for a ride is my escape from everything. I meet up with the lads from the club, and while my mrs is ace, I don't need to share that with her too. Just try Match.

Thanks notfastenough. You do make a good point and it's something to consider. I do at times think it would be nice to have someone who understands the involvement more and why we do it. Makes for easier reasoning, IMHO.
I'll give match a try and see how that turns out.

Even if she does start cycling with all you need to do is blow her off your wheel. That'll give you all the alone time you need and then some.....

Met my sporty wife on a dating website, but that was a 'match'. Fitness Singles seems to cover that particular angle. But it seems a bit of a narrow perspective for choosing a life mate. I'm sure there are other characteristic traits and similarities, but it feels a bit 'uniform.com'.

Potentially a lot of fat people wanting to meet thinner sportier types too. Anyway like all these sites I'm sure that there are those who have positive things to say as well as many negative things. It's dating after all.

Want any more advice? I could recommend a killer aftershave.....

There are benefits though, justifying bike-related purchases is a lot easier, to the point where my mrs now spends more in that department than I do (at least on nice kit), and she understands the occasional online bike lust.

'and then some' is right, potentially a lot more time than you bargained for! I get an earful if I pull that stunt once too often on a ride or get too far ahead. 4 Anyway, you don't have to ride together every time!

Exactly the same here, agree, try Match.com

Is this the opportunity to rehash the old farmer joke as "wanted: woman with bicycle. Please send photo of bicycle"?
So that I'm at least some help, fitness-singles may be along the lines of what you seek. (Sorry, no link, as I don't want that in my browser history...)
