In fairness, this is the sort of crash where a helmet could well have done him a great favour.
Unfortunately most of the crashes where helmets are referred are more of the "driven over by a lorry" variety, than the "headbutted a telegraph pole" type, so I agree that it is a bit spurious to enter a data point from the latter as evidence for the former.

The title should read Geriant not Bearing. My bloody Nexus can be a bit temperamental !
