Thanks I didnt know about the use of the cable symbol, however I would need anSM-PCE1 to do this apparently.
I just am annoyed at Shimanos upgrade paths. You always need something else in order to make their product [Di2] work.
Fantantasic fanfare for sync shift and bluetooth capability with a smartphone, but read the small print and you need
A new battery, the old one SM-BTR2 does not have enough memory to store the settings.
so its a new battery. BT-DN110 oh and a new charger SM-BCR2
Also a new wireless unit EW-WU101, try finding an SM-EWW01, which probably isnt compatable.
So it goes on, yes the shifting is fantastic, but only when your battery doesnts instantly go dead 1/2 way through a ride. Why I hear you ask because they forgot to make the internal battery waterproof and its suffers from condensation rising through the frame into the seat tube on a hot day. I have discovered that if you pull the battery apart and leave it to dry out it will recharge and work or take your seatpost out and leave your bike in a car on a really sunny day to find it starts working again. Hence the reason I bought a second battery which I carry in jersey pocket.
If I hadnt bought a £2,500 frame which is Di2 only then I would have no hesitation of reverting to a Manual shift.
There rant over.
You need to connect directly to the rear mech and overwrite the firmware you can do this by selecting the cable symbol on the right hand side of the e-tube login screen if after 3 attempts the RD does not reckognise then you can tell it what it is and that should fix it if not depending when you brought the mech you may be within warranty so return to dealer for them to sort.
Yes running 3.2.1.
The groupset firmware was updated in October with the then current E-Tube. The bike was put away for winter, everything working fine.
I took it out to ride as the sun was out. Plugged it in updated E-Tube to 3.2.1. Connected to shifters battery FD and RD.
Just about all units required Firmware updates which were carried out succesfully, apart from the RD which now cant be recognized.
Procedure sound as I have updated spare battery and RD.
Guess it didnt correctly update firmware, and it needs a method to revwert, start from new......
Is your e-Tube Project version 3.2.1 (not WinXP)? If not, uninstall e-Tube Project and install 3.2.1. This way you'll have the latest App matching the latest firmware. This should fix your issue. Post back if it doesn't.
I have a spare rear mech [long reach] for if I'm using an 11-32 cassette. This plugged in and accepted the firmware upgrade absolutely fine.
I even have a spare internal battery [take it for 2 week trips as backup] that works with everything eveything else is fine with any combo.
Just the one RD which said it was updating but when finished it just disapeared off the E-Tube.
BTW Crash recovery just disconnects the motor from the derailleur.
Was the battery charged up? You could plug in the rear derailleur directly to see if the software recognise it.. report back once you have tried a few things suggested
I don't use Di2 but have you googled it to see if it's a common issue? Have you tried putting it into crash recovery mode to see if that wakes it up?
