I have a pair of carbon alloy clinchers built by DCR that I am very pleased with that have coped admirably with the crap roads of Hertfordshire. David was great to deal with and clearly knows his stuff, he was also happy to cut a 'deal'. Mine were built with Sapim CX Ray spokes on DCR hubs which I think are rebadged Novatecs of some description
The hunts aren't factory wheels, they're simply budget friendly parts that are hand built in taiwan and very well marketed in England. Most wheel builders will use the same rims as hunt and re badge them as their own or simply state the rim such as kinlin for the alloy rims.

the cycleclinic is well regarded on the bikeradar forum and there's a set of wheels with probably similar rims to hunts, but likely better hubs and spokes
Try wheelsmith.
Friend of mine has a pair of DCR's own carbon rims laced up to soem Tune hubs and cannot fault them. Dave is a very helpful chap too; drop him a line.
Have bought two sets of wheels from DCR and one set of parts to do a self build. I'm no expert but everything has been great. David/Iona have always been very helpful. Last purchase was a set of their premium carbon clinchers and all's good with them so far...Prices seem competitive and you've got the benefit of easily replaceable parts if needed.
which hubs have you gone for out of interest?
I went with the DCR hubs. Perfectly happy with them so far though not used in crappy conditions so I can't vouch for longevity over a tough winter. As mentioned I think these are rebadged generic hubs, though thought they were bitex, not novatec. Either way, they're good enough for me....
Depends where you are. There's a Youtuber called Francis cade who lives in London and he has a local wheelbuilder who builds onto carbon rims and they look pretty top spec. Here's the link.
