It was 5.50am in October - that's pitch black isn't it ?
Why would you not have a light on your bike ? We know how bad some drivers are in full daylight.
Terrible driving but really bad cycling too.
Not good, however I see:
"...there was no light on the back of the bike and he was not wearing reflective clothing"
Amazes me how many people I see riding at night like this. For the sake of a few quid...I prefer to be illuminated like a Christmas tree. Even during daylight I have lights front and back these days.
I suppose at least it made it to court and the NI police didn't just do a Gail Purcell on it?
But: a judge saying there's no point in sending him to jail? Disgusting.
(No mandatory retest so he understands that blowing your nose while driving at speed can be a bad idea?)
Words fail me.
It says the streetlights were working and the cyclist has a front light but no rear light - though it doesn't explicitly say how much daylight there was.
The fact that he caused a death by careless driving and hasn't been jailed is incredible. If you caused a death by using a shotgun carelessly, I'm pretty sure you'd get jailed.
