Assuming you have a head unit that can read eTap, does the rear show up on it? I assume it's died, somehow, if the button on it doesn't work.![2](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/2.gif)
Did you find a fix for this problem?
Swapping batteries is front mech to rear mech. The shifters run off coin batteries, as you use both shifters to change on both mechs, this would show up as the rear not shifting one way.
Has any of those having problems updated the software?
Is swapping batteries a swap between shifter and derailuar? If so then maybe a battery isn't working.
If swapping batteries meant between sets and the other shifter/derailuar worked then I can't help neither.
Alcohol in spray form from electronics shops a handy tool because if electronics become wet, the alcohol can be sprayed upon and will dry without residue hence your electronics have a reduced chance of short circuiting.
Lithium Ion batteries store well at about 40% charge and coldish such as a refrigerator door temperature. In case on a bike that's stored winters, would extend battery life.
DId you ever get this sorted? I have the exact same issue. I have tried pressing the shift button on the derailleur itself but no lights, it’s just dead.
The OP already stated he's tried swapping the batteries. Since they'll be some sort of lithium cells it's unlikely one would fail just cos it's been sitting around for a bit. If it's all pairing OK etc an actual hard fault in the FD is more likely, assuming the switching end is OK.
With Di2 it's possible to program the shift buttons to operate whichever mech you want. Can the SRAM do this? If so it would eliminate the switching....
I've seen debris blocking the front mech before now. Is it all clean there ?
Going to cost you £60 to hook it up to the fault code reader and you get an hours labour for that too, oh wait, that’s a car.
Unlucky, hope it’s a cheap fix.
bluetooth dongle from EBay £10 will get same info (again for car sadly)
Does the FD operate from the function button on the derailleur?
Is the front shifter battery ok if it was not used for a long period?
Front shifter battery sounds like a good call.
Sweat gets everywhere.
Speak to SRAM?
For about £2.50 you can fit a new gear cable, that is almost guaranteed to fit the problem. Oh, sorry, yiu can't do that with the new modern "improved" stuff
. (I would have put a green envy smiley if I could have found one, I would love to go etap myself.)
The only thing i can think of is dirt or corrosion in or on the moving parts, a good scrub with a dry toothbrush naybe?
Let us know how you get on.
