Giant tcx slr 2

Evening all I'm currently selling my mtb and been offered a tcx slr 2 in exchange, are these suitable for road riding i currently ride a giant contend 2 which I want to hand down to my son but I'm just unsure on the tcx's suitability any input greatly received.

It will probably be heavier than the Contend. I had a TCX SLR, it was fine on the road but didn't handle quite as nicely as a dedicated road bike on the bends. Felt a bit perched on top of it, which is probably to be expected for a cross bike.

I presume that your Contend has a compact chainset - 50/34  11x34?

The TCX will have a cyclo-cross friendly chainset - 46/36 12x28?, which is probably the main issue you will want to consider.

Believe that the SLR2 is a base model, but they seem to be well thought of.
