I have now been on to trading standards who actually said what they have been doing is fraud, so I have conatcted the local police who has told me to registre a complaint with Action Fraud. Thisis run by the Police and they will investigate. However, the more of us victims that report it, the better so here is the link to action fraud https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/
However, we look at this. the guy was using our money with no intention to supply the goods. The promotions in May actually ghoes against the company.
This Gary Lee French needs to caught before he sets up anther company offering a similar product.
I am imagining the amount of money he has taken since Februay and not delivered the goods is quite a sum.
Sorry to read this. I had a poor experience with them in 2017 - bought a pair of 50mm rim-braked wheels, which were built so poorly that within 5 miles of my their first ride came so badly out of true that they rubbed into the carbon weave of my Foil - the frame was written off.
I was left to buy a replacement frame under Scott's crash replacement policy at a cost of £750. I raised a dispute with PayPal, who returned me the entire cost of the Zuus wheelset, after they absolved themselves of any responsibility (for the frameset I can't *really* argue that, it's my responsibility there, but the wheels not so much).
Live and learn etc - I don't buy anything online without using PayPal or a Credit Card now for buyer protection.
Funnily enough I had a trusted builder re-build the wheels completely, and they were absolutely solid after that!
When was the site taken down? I noticed the director of the company changed his status to "left self employment" on the 30.5.19 at 10:30am, seems an odd thing to post on Facebook! Anyway, fingers crossed we can all get our money back, I've been asking for a refund for weeks so I find this really disappointing
I just had the set I ordered in February arrive (yesterday), though I must have got lucky with appropriately written complaints. From what I can make out from my other half who opened the parcel (I'm not currently at home) it looked like it was labelled for someone else (see picture).
Given the feedback I guess I'll be taking them to a local master wheel builder before they get used in anger! Fortunately they are where primarily brought as a back up pair while my primary set gets fixed....

I ordered 8th May. I emailed on the 3rd week I was due to receive my order. Email from Alyson saying it’s due next week from the customs.
now, website down, Facebook account deleted and no email response or phone call.
im slightly worried I won’t get my money back.
but luckily I ordered thru PayPal so i have buyers protection. Fingers crossed.
i was looking forward to a new pair of wheels for the summer. By the time I get a refund it will be over and I’ll have no new shiny wheels to play haha
will keep you posted. But doesn’t look hopeful!
Hi guys horrible to here what has happens to you I was literally just about to buy some Zuus wheels but ended up going for a new British company called velocity wheels and I must say they are awesome and for £499.99 I thought it was worth the gamble as I had Hurd a lot of negative stuff about Zuus recently ! Their customer service was impeccable they were very friendly answered all my phone calls and replied to my emails in less than a day on most occasions!
The wheels them self are great look real stealth and ride great !
I have attached a link below to their website and a picture of the wheels.

Hopefully you all get your money back if you are still looking for a cheap pair of carbon wheels I can’t recommend them enough!!

Interesting... so that would suggest they’re still operating but not answering emails and to all intents and purposes they look as though they’re closed down.
bizarre...
At least the story is consistent re the excuses. My last 2 weeks ago about faulty bearings. Emailed on Thursday no reply as yet I'll wait till Tuesday then tell them to stick it and get the CC company to sort it out. That's what you get when you take a punt. I'd be ashamed to own that business.
I've just discovered this thread after wanting to log into https://www.zuus.co.uk to check up on the status of my order that I placed on the 16th May 2019. Damn these criminals. I had a pleasant chat with a lady there - very helpful and not a note of deception in her voice - I see their Instangram page #Zuus1 was still up and running until yesterday... I found a pic of them - If I lived in the UK - I'd be hunting for them to take it up in person with them.
So much for wanting to save a few quid - It's a bank holiday here in Switzerland, so I have to wait for tomorrow to discover if my Credit Card Company have this kind of thing covered - I really hope so as these wheels I had on order where to replace ones I crashed, I am fuming mad!

I've probably been bumped down the list now lol either get me the wheels or get me a refund. No reply. Anyone tried phoning? Don't trust myself to keep control ! Section 75 consumer credit act should cover direct payments by credit card so I've instigated a claim against them, don't really trust them anymore.
Website back down again after a brief re-appearance yesterday.
The telephone number has been dead for around a week.
One can only speculate as to why the site went live again yesterday and I pity anyone who stumbled upon it and placed an order.
It is a scandal that someone can operate in this way and take liberties seemingly with impunity.
Just an update of where I am with my order. 8th May I placed my order, through (luckily) PayPal who are also now seeking fraudulent action onto this persons account.
My refund unfortunately has to go through the motions of 30 days, but with my Crime Reference number they might be able to speed this up as they hate fraudulent activity on PayPal.

I'm not sure if this will be of any use, but when I picked up my wheels from Zuus about 6 months ago (I live and work locally and it was on my way home), this is where they were based.

I am guessing that this business space company has nothing to do with Zuus or Carbon C, but they might have more info.
I am also in this situation. online chat with female at company, 3 week lead time promised to delivery, paid 21 May, expected 11 June, no contact since initial order receipt. Now have to wait 10-15 days for credit card company to look into it.
Hope someone catches up with this thieving scum.
Arse!
Ref velocity wheels post .does anyone think that on a forum about lying wheel companies that it’s a good idea for director of a wheel company to post a fake/lying review!even though he found it funny.ps l don’t want to libel anyone but I’m fairly sure that the zuus website said that the were joint owned by pro bike kit and cycle wharehouse but that may have also been a lie
Interestingly, a quick search on Companies House for Gary Lee French brings up 4 'different' people, all born in September 1965 and all based in Cumbria. 3 of the 4 people are linked to now dissolved companies, including Zuus, with the fourth being Carbon C. So either this is a massive coincidence or the same person has 3 previous dissolved companies prior to his current one.

I’ve just looked at velocities website and there’s a lovely picture of their wheels fitted with veloflex tyres . I also looked at their 3 customer reviews with pics and they had also chosen veloflex (must be a popular combination) plus in the 2 pictures where you can tell both ‘customers ‘ have lined up the writing on the tyre with the valve and are using inner tubes with red valves (SPOOKY! )
Did you receive any notification that they were being sent or anything or did they just turn up?
Hi,
Lets us know how you get on with PayPal, I also raised a dsipute with PayPal and they said this seller wasn't covered by the Buyer Protection, didnt explain why.
I have escalated it with PayPal, as I ordered through PayPal credit pay over 4 months, I understood that credit purchases would be covered by the consumer credit act section 75, I've not heard anything back.
Hi Bike Rider 123,
We couldn't help notice that the name on your email address is remarkably similar to… okay, the same as, one of the directors of Velocity Wheels… coincidence I'm sure.
I contacted Zuus 3 weeks ago to ask if the wheels I wanted were available in Centre lock. I received an email within 10 minutes to say that, yes, they are available. I ordered and paid the £699 then was promptly emailed back to say sorry, they do not in fact offer the wheel in a centre lock version and would I like to reorder or cancel. I cancelled the order but have never received a refund, the website is down and the phone goes straight to voicemail. I presume they have gone bump.
They probably opened their website again to make sure they could shut it down permanently. They deleted their Instagram account fully yesterday too, phone off the hook and ignoring many emails. At least they're putting thought into disappearing with our money. My bank says I have to wait 30 days before I can claim as I did not get a clear delivery date, I'll also be contacting the police about Carbon C and its director GARY LEE FRENCH as my invoice was from them, not Zuus, and they are still an active company on Companies House. As previously discussed GARY LEE FRENCH was also the director of Zuus Sports, I'm sure the police will find that interesting. The more people that report him and his companies the better.

I had a random FedEx notification of delivery on Saturday stating delivery today (Wednesday), then one yesterday stating Tuesday, but no notification from Zuus / Carbon C Ltd.
Let me know how you get on, I done the same
Hahaha! Busted.
Looks like I know where mine are then.
They are being delivered to my in-laws, hence the different name.
Although I did get an email today saying they had been despatched, so hopefully they will arrive soon.
What was the sender’s email address?
thats an interesting development suggesting they might still be intending to deliver on paid orders just no longer actively trading for future orders?
Sales [at] zuus-sports.com
Looks like the above are all right - they were trading as Zuus Sports Ltd until January when they dissolved the company and began trading as Carbon C Ltd.
Gary Lee French is listed as the owner / director of both companies - interestingly if you google that name and 'Windermere' it brings up a Facebook account that looks like the name has been changed to Mark Edwards. In addition the url for this Facebook account is 'Zuus1.' In addition, if you scroll down on the page there are a lot of people wishing "Gary" a happy birthday.
Pure speculation but I do have some knowledge of the way these things work. I'd imagine the reason that they couldn't get anything through customs is that their warehouser / freight forwarder was refusing them credit (there will have been a reason for this, most likely previous delayed or non-payment...) and therefore they were having to pay the customs duties up front in order to get the products through. They probably have then been using the money from new orders to get old orders released - you can only do this for so long before it all catches up with you.
This probably links back to why they ran a big 30% off promo towards the end of May that was fairly heavily advertised across Facebook and Instagram - for the eagle-eyed amongst you, they were also deleting comments etc on these posts from people asking where their wheels were.
My overall opinion on the matter is that they are a small business who got in over their heads and while they may have had good intentions, they have ultimately not been able to cope with the pressures on the business and have shut up shop. I hope all can get their money back!
