I thought that the transfer window for GW finished at 9 last night so I panicked and made some stupid transfers! I now see that you have until next week to make the changes. Is that right?

I too fell into the trap of scoring 0 points because I only selected 8 riders. The reason being the wording on my team homepage said 'You may complete a partial team at any point during the game' leading me to believe I could get away with 8 riders, not 9.

I've gone through everyone that's emailed me about getting zero points and so far one of the following has been true:

1) they didn't have nine riders selected
2) the completed their team selection after the deadline for the stage

if you did either of those things you won't have any points for stage 1.

We've changed the transfers to six for this stage based on the amount of rider changes. it reverts to four next week.

Bit confused. I picked my team and it included Cancellara. He finished 2nd, so I was expecting at least 19 points in total, plus I had some HTC Highroad riders so thought I should have got more points. However I am currently showing as having zero points. Have I done something wrong?

There was me happily looking forward to the coverage in the afternoon on Eurosport. Starts shortly after 1.00pm. My stupid schoolboy error of course was not realising that a 298km race might have to start a bit earlier than the tv coverage starts.

I put my team together in the morning, got it all finished by about 9.30. This of course is after the cut-off point. Therefore although I'm frustrated at getting a late start here, especially after picking a squad that did quite well in the race, I have to concede that it was clearly my own fault. Grrr.

You mean 'you're' stupid? Bad manners are depressing 'Jamesss' - illiteracy is unforgivable.

No code for that one: it will magically appear after a couple of stages, with all the purists in it. We know who you are.

OK, so changing rider values & transfers...

If one of my riders goes up in value and I then transfer them out, do I get their post-increase value to spend on another rider - even if it takes my team value over 175 points?

And secondly: will the total aggregate cost of all riders in the game stay the same, so that the improvers are balanced out by the decliners?

1) yes: you can amass extra money by being canny.
2) not necessarily.

I have a question about transfers...

We're allowed two transfers between Classics races, but how does the start list figure into this? For example, say 3 of my team members for Milan San-Remo are NOT on the start list for Gent-Wevelgem. (grayed out) Am I forced to use my two transfers to fill the spots of guys who won't be racing? Or do I get an additional transfer for each rider who won't be starting? And in the above example, would I then have a "grayed out" rider left on my team when Gent-Wevelgem starts?

I think this is important, because it changes the whole way you have to set up your team. If we're forced to use transfers to fill "empty" spots, it's harder to move in riders you really want to. And the domestiques for each team change pretty much race to race, so all the transfers would get used up switching them around. It changes the strategy for "King of the Classics" so you have to pick the riders who will be on start lists the most, regardless of performance.

Thanks for listening to my long question!

1) you're allowed four transfers between classics races, not two.

2) you don't *have* to transfer out riders who aren't riding. probably at some point during the classics you'll forego a full riding squad, either by choice or because you can't make a full roster. For instance, I haven't picked either of the GC riders who are riding MSR, because I wanted to spend the money on all-rounders with a better chance - i think - of getting points.

3) No, if a rider is greyed out you don't get a free transfer. Life can be tough, but at least it's tough for everyone 1

4) if you have greyed out riders in your team, that's still a valid team so long as you have 9 riders selected. we've just sent out an email to let everyone know this, as there was some confusion...

Thanks for the info! I like your tip about the GC riders for MSR. I like Wiggo, but I don't need him for that race!

Slightly confused now :-S ....I have six riders greyed out and it says I have six transfers available before Gent-Wevelgem! I only expected four - which is right? (Not complaining if I have six!)

Hi guys,

I have a question. Suppose these results in Milano - San Remo:

1. Cavendish (HTC) 20 points
2. Boonen (Quick) 19 points
3. Hushovd (Garmin) 18 points
4. Goss (HTC) 17 points + 5 points (winner team: HTC)
5. Gilbert (Omega) 16 points

Is that correct? Will Goss get 22 points, 2 points more than the Milano - San Remo's winner? it doesn't seem fair... or Cavendish will get 20 + 5 points?

yup, that's correct. maybe he'll get 10 points for being road.cc rider of the day too, who knows? 1

When can we expect the last of the teams entered in the Milan San Remo to submit their rider line up?

I see we have a bunch of the Pro Conti teams now, but not all. Will Europcar get added later? I know they might not be at Milan San Remo, but Voeckler is likely to do well at some other classics...
