Giro - Stage 20

What do I do now?

Out for a ride at 6.00am very unlikely to be back before the transfer deadline. Take a chance, use my transfers and hope it takes place and lose the opportunity to use all those lovely transfers for the sprint, or leave my team as it is and hope that it's cancelled again. It would be nice if I could make the transfers and know that I would get them back if it were cancelled. 3 3

Ermeti, Hansen, Mouris and Brutt have established a gap of 40secs.

Scored -10 yesterday so no changes today out of spite.

After a good start, what with the cancellation of a crucial stage, Nibali pulling away and Di Luca's positive, this Giro is ending disappointingly.Unless something genuinely epic happens today.

Two differences for me :

Sammy instead of Santa
Azanza instead of Mezgec

5 transfers for tomorrow and hoping for a Sammy or Azanza win today 39

Well this is my team, with my changes done before yesterday

Nibali
Scarponi (for Evans)
Pirazzi (for Kangert)
Betancur
Majka
Pellizotti
Niemiec
Uran
Chalapud

Only regret I guess is Evans for Scarponi, but I should only loose out on a handful of points if any depending on finish line points

Tomorrow Cav, viviani, Nizzolo and Mezgec in

Really not happy with my team today....it really does not suit the new stage profile but Im stuck with it as I need the transfers for tomorrow....Having said that Im probably not on my own and at least we should get some racing today... 1

A high scoring stage today with many similar teams? I think so. Here's mine...

Mauro Santambrogio (VIN)
Vicenzo Nibali (AST)
Domenico Pozzovivo (ALM)
Carlos Alberto Betancur (ALM)
Samuel Sanchez (EUS)
Fabio Duarte (COL)
Franco Pellizotti (AND)
Rigoberto Uran (SKY)
Rafal Majka (SAX)

3 transfers for tomorrow and will probably take a penalty or 2. Good luck folks!

Have stuck Mezgec in now for the disgraced doper. I'd have brought him in for the sprint stage anyhow but if there's a chance that the summit finish is binned off, I might as well have a sprinter option there as not. Otherwise I'd only have picked Chalapud as 5th in the KoM comp and pretty much guaranteed a point

I rode most of the new route today, and am sitting in Bolzano as I write this. I would be surprised if it is cancelled. Most of the new route is low altitude, and the weather has improved. It will still be miserable at the finish line, but I think they will get there. At worst they might bring it down the mountain a bit, but I doubt that even.

Personally, I didn't climb high today and certainly won't tomorrow. Riding unsupported I would be ok on the way up, but would certainly do myself major damage when I had to ride back down!

Well 6 trasfers will be used on the final stage by me , so I'm hoping for an ITTesque score for me that day as well as closing about 30 points tomorrow on Jonas .....

As for his Nibs , he may not be happy in the short term but down the line he will be able to look back and enjoy it I think

I saved up a few transfers for just such an inevitability. Whew! Though my picks for today were going to stay thru tomorrow anyway, unless any of them dropped out.

Yes, less chance of Canola falling off his bike! (Actually ate in a restaurant called De Luca today.)

But I made a mistake using 3 transfers last night when I knew I should wait till the morning. I thought after it was rerouted it would be safe but it wasn't.

Hope tomorrow goes ahead, weather permitting and if it's safe to race, otherwise all the mountain stages will have been ruined really and it's Nibali's by default, although I couldn't see him faltering in any case, but I'm sure even he won't be entirely happy about winning this way.

Leader of the fantasy comp. must be happy too I imagine. Less chance of being caught.

You wont be getting them back if its cancelled.

I have 3 transfers, but I would love to keep them and have 5 for the final sprint.

The ONLY person the cancellation is helping is Cav and his red jersey 3

It must be making it easier for Nibali, Majka, Pirazzi (doper???) Jonas and Whoever leads the purist competition too. Oh and Alan Tullet I suppose!

It could even work out for enrique and his 'standard crew' if they find out it's cancelled BEFORE deadline of stage 20 as they could uses their 4 saved transfers for sprinters and get 2 more just after the deadline whereas they would be limited to just 4 sprinters otherwise.
