Bike posts cause anti cyclists to attend local council meeting

I don't understand this, the posts are off the road, not even "in the way" of cars but police had to attend the installation to allow it to happen. Chalvington is a tiny place, how can residents be so upset about secure bike parking away from the road and not in front of the shop??
A Nigel has suggested calling them firing squad posts for cyclists, then every town will have them overnight 🙄
