Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/18649201.car-crash-wall-iceland-s...

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

Major A17 bridge to close for emergency repairs after driver crashes into traffic barrier

Motorists have been warned of delays while the work takes place

Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "The traffic barrier on the bridge’s westbound carriageway was destroyed on Wednesday evening when a vehicle collided with it. Luckily, no one was seriously injured in the collision and the ship passing through wasn’t delayed – thanks to quick reactions from the bridge operators."

Ferrari crashes into bike racks in Norwich city centre

This is the problem with those lycra clad lobbyists; they demand cycling infrastructure and then don't use it. It then just gets in the way of tax paying and law abiding* cars.

*How are the police not taking any action?!

Uninsured driver crashes into tree on Cambridgeshire road

The passenger was injured and taken to hospital

https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/local-news/uninsured-driver-crashe...

But did the tree have insurance? Did it pay road tax? Did it have a licence? No, therefore it wouldn't have been there. Then the car wouldn't have hit it

Was it wearing hi-viz? Did it have a helmet? Really the tree only has itself to blame. We should stop trees getting in the way of hard-working, law-abiding* cars

I suspect that in this case the police may be taking more interest...

Although perhaps it's what the late Duke would have wanted?

This now has it's own story, but comments seem to be closed there (not clear why - I know comments are closed while legal proceedings are pending, but in this case the police aren't taking any further action).

I can understand it might be tricky to prove e.g. exceeding the speed limit, but surely it's clear beyond reasonable doubt that the manner of driving fell below (if not far below) the standard of a careful and competent driver? I know a careless driving conviction is not likely to achieve much, but it would at least show some willingness for the police to take action.

You don't get it, do you? When I call you "anti-car" (or in this case "anti-coach"), this is the killer argument - the discussion is over, at least for you.

You'll have to wait for it to come to court.  I expect his lawyer will ask him to describe all how he woke up, where and at what stage did he notice they were missing.  Perhaps a burglar took them?

EDIT:  I thank you, I thank you and I thank you.

The lack of action is appalling.  What kind of message does that send?

Perhaps a complaint to the PCC is in order.

Wouldn't that suggest that they agree that there was law breaking in this instance?

No insurance? That's not law breaking, that's an admin error

Over the speed limit? That's not law breaking, that's keeping up with the traffic

Going through a red light? That's not law breaking.... unless it's a cyclist

Fortunately, those walls were specifically designed to shrug off people crashing cars into them.

Waste of time. When police forces descend to this level of crap-ness, it's because of an inactve and compliant 'don't rock the boat' PCC. The Lancashire PCC, Snowden, simply dismisses all complaints with 'I can't interfere with operational decisions of the police'

Do they disintegrate because they are held together with clips?

Public services saddos like me might enjoy this story.  Bourton on the Water Parish Council want to ban certain coaches from some roads in the village, having recently lost the only coach park. I say certain coaches because they seem to want to ban coaches they don't like, but allow ones they do.

But of course your map shows a rail line so people will just get the train, right? /period joke

Google maps shows several transport-based companies (including Hacklings Transport, Pulhams Coaches).  It's almost as if they should be inured to large vehicles passing down their historic narrow streets.  Perhaps they prefer the Cotswold Performance Cars end of things - or even JWORX Automotive - rather than bus-loads of grockles?

They seem to have a rather large car park by the Co-op (with petrol station also).

Maybe a local worthy could donate a field - or two! - as a coach park, just off the main road?

Perhaps as you say "these are not the visitors we are looking for"?
