Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

Phone box on Ludlow street hit by reversing lorry at 7am on Wednesday morning.

https://andybodders.co.uk/2024/02/22/the-leaning-phone-box-of-ludlow-was...

Not related to buildings, but the local rag reports that "The number of fines handed out to drivers in West Mercia for using their mobile phones at the wheel rose substantially" in 2022. West Mercia Police handed out 885 fixed penalty notices for driving while using a handheld device during the year. Imagine how many they would catch if they had enough officers available to go out on patrol!

Van and car smash through garden fence in Poole

His partner said she believes the main issue is the amount of road works making drivers frustrated and annoyed.

She said her friend suggested that a 20mph limit would force road users to slow down.

This illuminated, reflective bollard should have made itself more visible.

This lamppost should have made itself more visible

Sarah Chandler's own tweet with a short video is here:

In a second tweet she said "I've lost count of how many cars I've seen smashed into the railings on this stretch" and in the video with that tweet a Safer Streets campaigner states that in a recent study 91% of drivers were speeding.

Released without charge.

Could have happened to any driver who was driving to standard and within the speed limit.

How bad is the damage?

To start off, they have (had!) a phone box?!
Why was the lorry on the pavement, and reversing without any sort of vision?
And why didn't the phone box respond to the "GET OUT OF MY WAY" beeping??

Its remains are barely in frame on the far right side of the previous photo. Here's a better one.

I was very underwhelmed by the bright red Bentley SUV - was expecting it to be something driven by Avengers Steed or Jason King of Department S.

The lorry was going very slowly.
The phonebox was in its blind spot.
There was plenty of room for the phonebox to just go round it.
The lorry had never hit anything before and always drove carefully.
Why wasn't the phonebox fully on the pavement?

It wasn't wearing hi-viz and, as it wasn't wearing a helmet, it only has itself to blame if it has any damage!
