Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

Sadly it's not a building that a vehicle crashed into this time:

BBC wrote:

Streets in central Edinburgh were sealed off on Saturday evening in a major police operation after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

EDIT totally out of place in this thread, apparently was a bus. Still no driver involved though...

Local papers getting worse, this doesnt even mention that it was a car that crashed into the wall and a parked car (which I suspect is the car in the picture) let alone there was a driver at fault

Lorry destroys Chinese takeaway and damages pub in Bayston Hill, near Shrewsbury. The family at the takeaway are now homeless and have lost their business.

https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2024/11/11/family-running-chinese-ta...

Just a matter of hours later another HGV hits an overhead power line on a diversion route in the same village.

Scrolling down today's Shropshire Star headline it seems that it is quite a couple of days of it...

A high powered BMW ploughed into a home in Ketley, Telford at around 10.30 am on Sunday, badly damaging a corner of the house. Hurrying to pay their respects a Remembrance parade, perhaps? Should be made to drive a restricted little 2-door car for a while.

An update with more pics here.

Fire crews were sent to the A41 near Hinstock after a car hit a tree shortly before 1pm today.

Two cars hit a barrier in Lawley this morning, though details are suspiciously sparse:

Arrest after motorist crashes into shop in Sittingbourne High Street and Raja of Kent Indian Restaurant in High Halden, near Ashford

Following the incident, officers from the Kent Roads Policing Unit said on X: “This one clearly is not cut out for a life of crime. Having unsuccessfully rammed into a shop, the vehicle was sighted.

“A pursuit lasted only six seconds before he lost it on the first bend and got stuck.”

How is that even possible? It's a suburban street - traffic cannot proceed too quickly because of the road layout and parked cars; it's a modern car - packed full of safety features to allow the driver to maintain stability and control; the driver (not mentioned in the news item) will have earned their driving licence after instruction and rigorous testing; their skill validated by being covered by motor insurers.

Good grief - do they mean it might be £150,000-plus-plus?

The bus should have been bigger and brighter coloured. How are drivers expected to spot a bright yellow double decker bus on our roads?

(p.s. it was one of those driverless cars, again)

Three further incidents this week. What a bonanza!

At 1.15pm on Wednesday Dawley Baptist Church was hit by someone leaving the church  [article]

Then at about 11.40pm on Friday evening the Fire Service sent 3 vehicles to an incident they described as involving "one private motor vehicle in to detached property". [article]

And on Saturday afternoon, just a few miles south of Pontesbury on the A488, police, 4 fire engines and 3 ambulances attended a single-vehicle incident. Two occupants were hurt, one with 'potentially serious injuries'. [article]

And a photo added for your entertainment - this is the outcome when incompetent SUV drivers charge along a narrow lanes, as happened today near Oswestry. The white Audi sustained "significant damage". Awww, such a shame! I have to deal with shitty driving by SUV, truck & van drivers on the local lanes on a daily basis. [article]

I was looking for a different video but can't find that one at the moment. I did find this one though. Although you don't see the car flip, you can see it just before and that you don't need speed to flip a car https://youtube.com/shorts/18cfSwhyk9Y

And they pay Road Tax, unlike cyclists who pay absolutely nothing.

sorry, I've forgotten where I was going with that - as you were.

No, wait I have it - not everyone can avoid rolling their car in a suburban street (and, genuinely from local Facebook today in relation to a parked car obstructing a cattle grid: "Let's hope every [sic] who commented is perfect and never make mistakes." (3 likes, FFS)
