This is a comment about the wording of the reporting, not the circumstances or standard of driving. Wishing the driver and the other injured people a full and swift recovery.

Hampshire police twitter One very lucky driver. After an aborted overtake, the driver took to the verge driving through a bus shelter.
How lucky?
This lucky.
The incident, which happened on Sunday, saw a police car collide with another vehicle, which in turn caused severe damage to his brick wall.

A car crashed into a cafe in Colwyn Bay, causing "extensive damage" shortly before 9pm on Thursday night and drove off. The cafe owners posted on FB that "a car reversed through the door and adjoining window of the café causing extensive damage to the framework and contents and they then proceeded to drive away." And they didn't even leave a tip! Scandalous. Street View suggests it's a pedestrianised area.

In this case bonus points because it was next to what looks like a shared use path - and a sufficiently wide road - in late 2022.
But maybe not wide enough for parking? Or a bus lane? I don't know the reason but looks like the A53 may have got bigger so now the bottlenecks are elsewhere... (was that on here a while back)?
The slow death of public transport - spreading into the cities now from is rural locales. Thanks, cars.
My first thought was "Did she drive the lamppost or the wall?" seeing this on the ticker elsewhere.
It does represent a new low water mark of headline.

Also no mention of a driver so perhaps it was autonomous?
Wow! That's some work. A much more superficial (but maybe interesting) blog on this by NotJustBikes, if you want some footage from north America:

Pretty sure that planter shouldn't be there and it look like the red Biffa bin, after the low wall, may have borne the brunt. But it's quite a distance this driver has covered from the road.
