New Forest Dog Owners Group (NFDOG), chair Heather Gould:
“In some cases like the Waterside [Hythe, sitting on Southampton Water, I think] they’d also have to cross busy main roads to access the Forest. In effect they are denied access as they cannot drive and park to take exercise with dogs in the Forest.”
Another lady, who got a “why are you here?” sticker. She said: “To walk on pavements from my home carries more risk since it is impossible to safely socially distance when meeting others without stepping into the road since crossing to the other side usually involves coming close to other pedestrians”
The answer is me driving my car (with Yapper, Crapper, and Cattlechaser on board Of course) - busy roads (really?), get in my car, crowded pavements (yeah, right) same thing. Sounds like at least Heather’s gradually getting the message in terms of the closed car parks.
Turning to Wales and the walking distance thing, don’t say I didn’t warn you. There was some pretty dim talk of “60 is normal for me”, etc. Now look what that’s got us. I hope England doesn’t go the same way.
A couple of times in recent days, I’ve met pairs of Lycra clad-cyclists (Castelli in one case) who might have been from the same household, but I doubt it, not socially distancing Between themselves, nor to me walking a country road. Yes I know it’s unlikely the virus will be passed in this situation, but I’m moderately teed-off with these guys, so imagine the reaction they’re Probably getting from others.
