Jonny Bellis back in Britain as recovery continues

21-year-old transferred from Tuscany to hospital in London

Jonny Bellis, the up-and-coming Saxo Bank rider from the Isle of Man who was badly injured in a scooter accident in September, has travelled back to London from Italy to continue his recovery.

British Cycling said in a statement that Bellis, who suffered head injuries following the crash and was placed in a medically-induced coma, “has now been transferred to a hospital in London where he has been assigned his own physiotherapist.”

It added that “a rehab programme has begun and doctors at the hospital have confirmed that he is stable and progressing well."

The 21-year-old’s accident took place close to the Great Britain Under-23 Academy base in Quarrata, Tuscany, a few days before he was due to take part in the UCI World Road Championships in Mendrisio, Switzerland.
