To celebrate Cadel Evans's recent win at the road World Championships, Gaerne the company that makes the great man's shoes is offering cyclists around the world the chance to win a pair of a very limited edition World Championship Carbon G.Myst shoes.
How limited? Well they are only making 20 pairs and 17 of them will, say Gaerne, be used for “media purposes” I've got my pair on now (only joking) which leaves three pairs to make it out into the real world. Not that's what we call limited.
According to Gaerne: “This new shoe contains iconic images of Cadel and his stunning solo World Championships win. A special graphic shows "wallaby kangaroos" running along a rainbow ribbon, symbolizing the path to victory and the sacrifice of the athlete to reach the most important finish line of his career, becoming World Road Champion.”
And, no, they aren't made of wallabies either… or koala bears. The Carbon G.Myst World Champion is made from a one-piece micro fibre upper to give a comfortable fit, there's a 2D micro adjustable buckle to help keep then on securely and which allows for adjustment on the fly, while the Adjustable Instep Closure System, AICS for short, adapts to fit all foot shapes and give your foot maximum support.
Mind you, if you won one of only three available pairs of a limited edition shoe would you actually use it? No better to store them in a climate controlled safety deposit box and treat yourself to a pair of the less limited version of the same shoe, still featuring the world championship stripes but minus the Aussie flags and wallabies and available in the UK from Hotlines for a snip at a mere £249.99.
You can enter the competition at www.gaerne.com, entry closes on 29 December and the winners names will be drawn a month later. Good luck!
