Trek time trial bike stolen from Lance Armstrong's shop

Trek-Livestrong team bike is same model as one nicked at Tour of California

As Lady Bracknell might have said, “to lose one time trial bike may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose two looks like carelessness.”

Careless, or not, that’s the fate that has befallen Lance Armstrong after the theft last weekend of a $10,000 Trek Equinox TTX SSL bike from the building housing the seven times Tour de France winner’s bike shop, Mellow Johnny’s, in Austin, Texas.

The bike, which belongs to Trek, was used last season by Team Trek-Livestrong rider Ryan Baumann, and was being stored on a separate part of the premises to the shop.

Mellow Johnny’s is using Twitter to try and get the bicycle back, a tactic employed by Armstrong himself when his own similar bike was stolen following the prologue of the Tour of California earlier this year.

Earlier this month, that bike was sold for $130,000 in an auction at Sotheby’s in New York to raise money for the Texan cyclist’s Livestrong charity.
