Cannondale set to launch CAAD10 track bike this year?

Photos posted on Facebook suggest a new race-ready CAAD10 track bike is coming soon

We’ve reported earlier this year on what appeared to be a new CAAD10 track frame from Cannondale, based on a couple of photos posted by  Cannondale Pro Cycling's Elia Viviani. At that stage we couldn’t get confirmation if this was just a one-off for the team rider, or sign of the company’s intention to launch a new model into the range.

This photo shared on ‘Cannondale Blog’ Facebook page appears either to be a very good mockup, or a leaked photo of the actual bike that will be released very soon. If it is indeed how the new model will look, it’s most likely it’ll be launched for real at Eurobike in September, making it a 2015 model year bike.

And if we had any doubts about how real it was, this photo, also on Facebook, shows it looks pretty real.

We reckon it looks pretty good, but then looks are a very subjective matter. The frame clearly shares a lot with the road going CAAD10, with similar flared and shaped main tubes and pinched chainstays, and is likely made from the SmartFormed 6069 aluminium of the road version.

We’ve no idea if how many builds they might offer, or if this is the sole model in the range. This one wears a pair of Mavic Ellipse wheels with Schwalbe Lugano tyres, a Truvativ Omnium track crankset, Fizik Arione saddle and Cannondale post, bars and stem.

The release of a CAAD10 track bike would fill a gap in the company’s range, vacant since the CAAD5 Capo track bike was discontinued in 2008. Before that Cannondale used to produce the Track frame during the 1990s, there are still a fair few knocking about on eBay, but they command a high price.

Oooh. Purty.

But why would it be a CAAD10 Track and not a CAADT in the same way as the CAADX is the cross bike, I wonder.

It might just well be, it hasn't been officially launched yet so we're just guessing on the name
