£100k in the pot for path resurfacing

North Somerset-to-Bristol riders benefit from grant

Part of a cycle path linking Bristol to North Somerset is to get a tarmac surface following a successful Sustrans bid.

The sustainable transport charity has given £50,000 to re-surface two miles of the Flax Bourton Greenway, with matched funding coming from North Somerset Council.

Money will also be used to install additional direction signs.

The route was built by Sustrans volunteers in 2007 and has become a popular commuting route between Nailsea and Bristol as well as being used by school children, walkers and leisure cyclists. The tarmac surface will improve accessibility as well as reducing maintenance costs as the current stone dust surface needs regular attention to fill pot holes and cut back overgrowing vegetation.
