Thieves steal 500 pairs of Northwave Arctic Commuter winter cycling boots

Distributor i-ride says lorry was broken into overnight while parked up, bike shops warned to be vigilant

Thieves in Essex have made off with more than 500 pairs of Northwave winter boots after breaking into a lorry that had been parked up overnight.

Following the theft last week, distributor i-ride has warned retailers to be vigilant about being offered winter boots at a discount, reports the trade website BikeBiz.

The boots in question are the Northwave Arctic Commuter GTX MTB and the Northwave Arctic Commuter road.

We reviewed the latter last year, and a pretty decent bit of kit it was too, getting a rating of 9 out of 10.

Anyone with information about the stolen footwear is asked to contact i-ride on 01444 243 000 or info [at] i-ride.co.uk, or alternatively Essex Police on 101.

Meanwhile over in Odrie a new flouro style of shoe has become vogue. We suspected this might the next big thing. Watch out Milan!

That's outrageous! If anyone spots them selling for a ridiculously low price on eBay then please let me know. I'd like to - um - report them too.

They are going to be very very difficult to get rid of easily. Should be quite easy to track down.

Theiving scumbags
Glad I got mine recently. Originally I got some Sidi's but was not overall impressed, plus they were too large.
I replaced with Northwave Extreme Winter GTX Road boots. Not worn them yet as the weather has been too warm and dry ut they are more comfortable fit and has really nice wire micrometric closure.

I have a black pair of the road version which have served me well over last winter and are still going strong. Paired with over-shoes when very cold (bellow O'c )they keep feet warm for several hours, water will still wick from tights, though a little cling film round the top help prevent this quite well.
