Team RadioShack signs up ZipVit as sports nutrition provider

Johan Brunyeel so impressed by range that he brings UK-based company on board

We’ve given ZipVit’s products rave reviews on the site before and it seems that increasingly, the pros are agreeing with our reviewers, with Team RadioShack manager Johan Brunyeel personally stepping in to sign up the UK-based but Swiss registered sports nutrition brand as a supplier to the ProTour outfit for the 2010 season.

Under the deal, which was finalised after Bruyneel personally contacted ZipVit founder Warren Bailey, ZipVit Sport, which already supplies Cervélo TestTeam, will supply Lance Armstrong’s outfit with energy bars, gels and recovery drinks under its Project ZV range – first launched two years ago – during 2010, as well as health supplements throughout the season.

Bailey said that Bruyneel contacted him in September, well ahead of Team RadioShack’s official launch. “It was clear that Johan wanted only the very best products for his team and he spoke very highly of what we had achieved with our Project ZV range in such a short time,” he explained.

He continued: “ZipVit Sport is right at the cutting edge of nutritional science and we are very excited that Team RadioShack will be using our products this season. The eyes of the world will be on them and, together with Cervélo TestTeam, they are set for great success in 2010. It will be great to be a part of that.”

According to Brunyeel, “nutrition is becoming an increasingly important aspect within elite endurance sport and it was clear to me that ZipVit Sport’s range is built on an excellent understanding of the science behind increasing athletes’ energy levels and optimising their recovery times.”

“Both of these will prove to be crucial as the season progresses, which is why, following my conversation with Warren, I am delighted that ZipVit Sport has agreed to supply Team RadioShack for 2010.”

Zipvit says that recovery products in the ZV range, including whey protein, glutamine, beta-alanine and branded chain amino acids, uniquely include colostrums, which assists athletes to build and repair lean muscle, and also provides protection against infection.

Only natural colours and flavourings are used, while proceduresare in place to reduce the risk of the products becoming contaminated with banned substances to the absolute minimum. ZipVit works with an anti-doping lab that has ISO17025 accreditation and is used to working within the World Anti-Doping Agency regime, and each batch of products is tested for every stimulant and sterois on WADA’s banned list, which it says provides athletes subject to tests with piece of mind.

Full details of the ZipVit Sport Project ZV range can be found on the company’s website. www.zipvitsport.com
