Adidas has launched the new adistar cycle clothing range for spring/summer 2015, with men and women’s clothing that has been tested in a wind tunnel to be the most aerodynamic race fit possible.
The new range, available in a smart and understated monochrome finish, includes the following items:
Adidas adistar Long sleeved Jersey - £90
Adidas adistar short sleeved Jersey - £80
Adidas Pluvius jacket (male only) - £135
Adidas adistar body suit (female only) - £100
Adidas adistar bibshort (male only) - £120
Adidas adistar gloves - £27
The clothing incorporates some of the latest materials technology with a strong focus on aerodynamics running through the collection. “A riders aerodynamic requirements are all perfectly met in adistar products,” says the company.
The Adidas adistar short sleeved jersey above is constructed from a DragZero Fabric with a covered main zipper and strategically placed seams to reduce drag. There are TrailingEdge Hems, inspired by a jet fighter, to reduce vortices, and LeadingEdge sleeves further smooth the airflow.
The Adidas adistar Long sleeved jersey also features a covered main zipper with LeadingEdge sleeves and SlipStreamSeams to reduce drag, and the body-hugging fit of the brushed medium weight fabric should be ideal for spring cycling weather and racing. The jersey also features some reflective details.
The bib shorts also incorporate some of the technology from the jerseys. TrailingEdge Hems are smooth and flat to improve aerodynamics, while again carefully placed seams reduce drag. The shorts are made from a Carvico Revolutional Enery abric with compression qualities and an Elastic Interfaced padded insert is claimed to be comfort for 6 hours of riding.
To combat the changing conditions typical in the spring, the Adidas Pluvius jacket is a lightweight packable design with a water-resistant 4-way stretch fabric. There are LeadingEdge Sleeves to cut cleanly through the air and double front zippers provide easy ventilation, with rear storm flaps to allow hot air to easily escape. There’s reflective branding to provide 360 degree visibility.
We'll be getting a closer look at the new clothing soon. The range is available on www.adidascycling.com from today.

This kit is a little bit monochrome. Henry Ford would approve. As for the people reading things into these images, adidas have been in cycling (and athletics) for decades. If anything Adidas says '80s' to me not just football. Remember how you used to whine about the Sky kit before Rapha took over, or have you forgotten? Meanwhile please don't give in to the reverse body-fascists; human beings are not supposed to be fat, keep trying hard and don't let anyone tell you that you or any advert showing skinny people is not normal. They are just jelly.
Don't Adidas make the kit for teamGB? I could have sworn there were a few triple stripes on a few arms the other weekend in the velodrome in France (was that the worlds? Or am I losing it?)
Its like a lot of labels, there's the junk they sell on the high street through sports direct, then there's the decent stuff for proper exercise and not just lounging around watching drug addicts and rapists kick a ball around a field for 90 minutes.
Check out the main image 1/32. The lad sitting on his crossbar legs. Never been on a bike before and that is Adidas . NO soul, just a big corp who see us as a market.
What ?

Yep, adidas have never been on a bike
look adidas may have a long association with cycling that goes back to the likes of Merckx, and doesnt that read like straight off a press release, but the kit they released last year was frankly no up to scratch
Im far from being a size 0, most cycling clothing I find a touch too small, but I couldnt find any sizing combination that worked for me,everything was just too inconsistently oversized in some dimension or other, baggy, loose and had all the comfort of wearing cloth sack, it was more Aldidas than leading sportswear maker, but for 4 times the price
if Im expected to pay 100+ for a pair of shorts 80 for a jersey, the very least I expect is them to fit properly, to be comfy and to be quality cycling gear, as those are the only 3 stripes Im concentrating on.
Mike Ashley has quite a few shares in Adidas hence why he sells a load of their gear really cheap. So, keep an eye out for this stuff in his SD shops it will no doubt be a lot cheaper.
The three stripes are always cool no matter what kit they're on
Trailing edge hems to reduce vortices!!!!
Really?!!
Come on how much difference can that actually make?
It's all a bit monochrome as well. Quality looks good though to be fair.
Look how young and healthy and fit and vibrant we are...if you buy this kit you too can be as cool as us and not the comfortably cuddly mid 40s chugger that you are...
When is the next Aldi bike day?
Heh, speak for yourself. Some of us are still clinging on to our youthful good looks. Sort of.
Looks a bit bland, but really nicely fitted. Kinda expensive for Adidas though.
Adidas also made very good cycling shoes, used by Chris Boardman amongst many others. I believe Mavic took over the cycling bit of Adidas a while ago.
Actually, Salomon bought mavic in 90s, which was then in turn bought by Adidas later on in the same decade. Adidas has since sold both on to Amer Sports.
So, Mavic, not so much French, as Finnish.
This looks a step up from their Response kit which fits Belarusian weightlifters better than cyclists.
I still equate Adidas with football tops
Adidas have history in cycling. The company first produced a cycling shoe back in the 1960s, and of course sponsored Eddy Merckx who wore Adidas shoes with the Molteni team in the 1970s and his world champs jersey had the iconic three stripes on the shoulders
Thanks for the history lesson, I honestly did not know that . My comment is just a personal one from my boyhood days of wearing Adidas football tops.
I have a set of Adidas Merckx cycling shoes. They lasted approximately *twenty* seasons of racing and were the best shoes i ever had.
Which is strange because the fella in the long sleeve jersey looks like he could be Robin van Persie's brother.
