Team Sky Diaries - E3 HarelbekeVideos: Cameras follow Geraint Thomas as he wins E3 Harelbeke
Team Sky are enjoying a successful Classics campaign, with Ian Stannard’s win at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad last month followed up by Geraint Thomas’s victory at E3 Harelbeke on Friday – and the latter is the subject in the first of a series of films following the team during the campaign.
The series of Team Sky Diaries films dealing with the climax of the Spring Classics campaign – today’s Gent-Wevelgem is followed by the Tour of Flanders next Sunday then Paris-Roubaix in a fortnight’s time – is titled ‘Hell of a Ride.’
That’s an appropriate summing-up of Thomas’s ride on Friday as he initiated an attack 38km out and was subsequently joined by Zdenek Stybar and defending champion Peter Sagan, dropping both as he attacked again 4km from the finish – and that win is the subject of the first film.
The second film in the series follows the riders during yesterday’s rest day ahead of Gent-Wevelgem.
Four more films will be released in the series over the next couple of weeks.
