You voted in your thousands – and now Giro Cycles in Esher, Surrey has been named the UK’s Best Coffee Shop for Cyclists, with the award sponsored by road.cc.
Founders Jordan Addison and Neil Goodman set up the business on the town’s High Street to provide a meeting place for growing numbers of road cyclists taking to the county’s roads in recent years.
Here’s Jordan holding the award – based on the blue plaque often found on buildings of historical or cultural interest – after receiving it from road.cc’s Elaine Curtin at the Caffè Culture Show at London’s Olympia on Wednesday.
They’re flanked by Vulpine’s David Hemming on the left, and awards organiser Chris Ward on the right.
Jordan also wins a complete set of Vulpine kit, as will one lucky voter – we’ll let you know who that is as soon as organisers tell us whose name has come out of the hat first.
Tens of thousands of cyclists voted for their favourite coffee shops, with strong competition for the top prize led by Bicicletta in Saffron Walden, Essex, and Velo House in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
More than 300 coffee shops across the UK received votes, with others receiving solid support including Velocity Cafe and Bicycle Workshop in Inverness, Ronde Bicycle Outfitters in Edinburgh, Pedalling Squares in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Harrogate’s Prologue Performance Cycling, Eureka Cyclists Café in Chester and Maison du Velo in Reigate.
Elaine said: "Cycling and coffee go hand-in-hand - we all love a nice coffee stop on a ride, and if there's cake thrown in, so much the better. It's why we sponsored the award.
"It's great to see so many independent businesses that aim to give their customers quality product and service recognised in the voting - businesses indeed similar to road.cc and Vulpine that aim to go that extra mile.
"Congratulations to Jordan and the rest of the team at Giro Cycles, as well as to all those whose customers demonstrated their loyalty by voting for them."

Quote by Maison du Velo in Reigate aka fincreative a user name they created on roadcc. Obvious bitter at losing out to GIRO.

Maison du Velo in Reigate - great place to ride from in a good location, lovely coffee & friendly staff. Chapeau!
I'd rather cycle to places like Giro than go to Maison du Velo when cycling in Surrey.
The coffee at Giro is indeed good, but Bike Beans in Ashtead is my 'local' - they do great rides from there and the coffee and food is good too!
Is there a list of the top results? I'm always on the look out for a new cafe to visit.
Well deserved, I'd say. Have been visiting Giro en route to the Surrey Hills most weekends since it opened. Great coffee, great cake, friendly atmosphere and a good location. Can't fault them really. Chapeau!
Well done Giro: Surrey's most glamourous cycling caff!!
I attended the Giro launch party a couple of years ago. It was a very smart affair, with champagne and canapés and a good smattering of influential cycling people. As I left, I noticed that a lone cyclist, dressed in full lycra road kit, had stopped outside to have a look. 'What's going on here then?' he asked. 'It's a brand new cafe, specifically for cyclists," I replied, before adding "You should go in". He thought about this for a moment and then said "No, I don't think I will: I'm not dressed for it".
I did point out that he was, in fact, perfectly attired for a cycling cafe, but still he rode off into the night without his free glass of fizz. I do hope he has since returned - and that he didn't feel the need to dress up.
Velo House is my local and very good, Esher is 40 miles away by bike...I have a cafe run plan forming
