The eyes of the cycling world may be on the Giro d’Italia and Tour of California right now, but back in the UK, our favourite team, Kuota-road.cc, is moving into some decent form with a little over a month to go until the Halfords Tour Series kicks off at London’s Canary Wharf.
Yesterday, at the Hillingdon GP, Jon Mozley secured a podium place after being narrowly beaten in a sprint to the line, following a strong team effort at the West London off-road circuit.
As team manager Eddie White explains, “the race went pretty much to plan for us, with the guys giving a good committed team effort, we put riders in every break during the race forcing the other teams to chase. whilst protecting Moz if it came down to a bunch sprint.”
According to Eddie, who also supplied some cracking shots of the day’s action, Flying Dutchman Jeroen Janssen “gave Moz a perfect lead-out on the last lap, getting him to the last 200m in the lead. Moz led all the way up the finishing straight. But unfortunately for our guys Tony Gibb came over him just before the line.
“Dave McGowan took a good 8th place after being in a hatful of breaks during the race,” adds Eddie, who also said “Martin Smith did a great team job and also managed to take one of the big sprint laps. Unfortunately for Martin he was brought down on the last lap when one of the Raleigh riders got a corner wrong, crashing out and bringing down a number of riders including Martin.”
