Alf ‘The King’ Engers, Tour de France rider Vin Denson and legendary framebuilder Barry Witcomb will all be in attendance at this year’s Hammersmith Cyclists’ Film Festival, taking place at two venues in London over the next two weekends, with tickets still available.
On Saturday 30 January, the Regent Street Cinema will host three films – Ray Pascoe’s Notebook from the 2012 Tour de France, On Yer Bike, comprising clips from the British Film Institute’s National Film Archive, in a subsequent screening, Pascoe’s The King.
The latter film’s subject is Engers, who will take part in a Q&A, as will Barry Witcomb following the earlier show – he appears in a clip in the BFI footage, and is due to attend with his father Ernie, who is 93.
Tickets for both are available here and a discount is available for those booking both screenings.
On Sunday 7 February, the venue switches to the Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley, with the programme comprising On Yer Bike – Graeme Obree, The Final Hour – Chris Boardman and Jacques Anquetil: The Man, The Mystery, The Legend.
After the final film, there will be an interview with Denson, the first British Giro d’Italia stage winner, who was a team mate of the five time Tour de France champion.
Tickets for those screenings can be bought here.
