Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was punched in the face in Brighton on Friday February 5.
The victim, a 50-year-old man, was cycling round the pier roundabout on the seafront at around 8.20pm when he became engaged in a verbal altercation with the passenger in a car which was also travelling west.
The man, who was in a grey Ford Focus, then punched the cyclist in the face causing two fractures to his eye socket.
A 31-year old man from Shoreham was subsequently traced and arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. After being interviewed he was released on police bail until April 4. Enquiries are continuing.
Detective Sergeant Chris Lane said:
"We are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. If you can help please contact us via 101 [at] sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 1338 of 05/02.”

This wasn't the driver so it wasn't a traffic offence so the police took it seriously. That's the way it works.
in this case it seems the offender was stupid enough to use his fist instead of a 2 tonne metal block, because as we all know moving a 2 tonne metal block at speed into a space you can't see to be clear is reasonable, whereas no one would accept that excuse for a 300grams of skin, bone and sinew.
People are such dicks.
