Witness appeal after male cyclist seriously injured after argument with female driver

Metropolitan Police Serious Collision Unit seek witnesses to incident in Stoke Newington last Wednesday

Detectives from London's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses after a woman drove into a cyclist following an argument,  leaving the man in hospital with serious injuries.

On Wednesday 10 February, at 9.15pm a 38-year-old man was involved in an argument with a woman driving a small, dark car in Stoke Newington, North East London. The man cycled off into Victorian Grove, when he was struck by the same car near the junction of Ormsby Place.

The man was taken to an East London hospital, where he currently remains with serious injuries.

The Metropolitan Police released an appeal for witnesses yesterday, and are asking anyone with information to contact detectives at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0208 597 4874.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

It's getting to the point where if you cycle in London you have to have video cameras on your bike and/or helmet.  Based on the outcome of another similar incident involving a Volvo, even if the car is identified, all the owner or driver has to do is claim they weren't driving the car at the time and escape with a fine and penalty points.

In relation to the headline can i ask what difference it makes if it was a male / female cyclist or a male / female driver as the law wont make any distinction. Unless of course your referring to the female as the weaker sex.........................then your on dangerous ground there.

I can just see it now . .  driver is located and interviewed by the Police.

"You see officer it's not my fault. That nasty cyclist told me I was driving dangerously, and my car didn't like that so Christine drove him off the road . .  there was NOTHING I could do. . . "

Protect yourself and invest in a camera. The Cycliq Fly6 is a great choice.

Strange how road raged motorists will whack a cyclist off of the road but don't get that raged enough to do it to another car in case they damage their own.

It's well past time the courts started coming down really hard on these nutters with their two ton weapons.

Sounds like premeditated vehicular assault with intent to me. Just saying!

Or it is one heck of a coincidence.  Maybe the car in question was a Ford Prefect?

(Seriously, I'd be looking at it the same as you- looks like a clear cut case of assault with a one tonne box).
