I managaed to get a price match from Cycle Republic on an item that wasn't reduced on their website. Instore the gloves were £40, website £25 but a different size but told the staff member they were reduced on the website negelcting the size thing then produced my BC card, £22.50 for a pair of SealSkinz gloves.
I've done odd deals with Halfrauds....have to be canny mind.... look on the website for Price match and then use British Cycling 10% too..... if you go for Price Match...print it off....as I went in the first time and they fobbed me off....next time I printed it off and got what I wanted at the 50% off plus and additional 10% BC .....
I've attempted to use Halfrauds reserve and collect thing too, though it was something from their car department I think, and in my case they couldn't find it either. I only use Halfords when necessary. Occasionally they do have some very good value products, but if it's a bike, you're better off setting it up yourself with reference to Park Tool's website - apparently better training than their staff get!
Why was this not referred to the Monopolies Commission like Wiggle & CRC, something stinks here.
I'd hazard a guess that the combined size of Wiggle and CRC is considerably larger than the combined online presence of Halfords and Tredz.
Have to agree reference reserving stock at Halfords - in stock on the website, reserve to collect and sometimes get a notification and sometimes hear nothing. Some appears to come from the shop floor, some arrives dumped in a cage, it then finds its way to a cupboard behind the till and it is a lottery what goes in and comes back out!
are we talking about problems with wheelies here or halfords?
Conversely, I've never had any problems with them. The staff at my place are very helpful. I order the odd bit of kit from there, when it works out the cheapest, and it's always fine. They'll often price match their own website if you go in to buy stuff off the shelf, without my even asking.
I went in once and asked them if they had any quill stem adaptors......not a clue what I was talking about.
Their stupid on-line and shop price difference annoys me as well. If you ever reserve anything it's either gone 'missing' or someone accidentally sold the last one. I am 5 out of 5 for messed up reservations now. At least last time I got a more expensive pair of overshoes out of the mistake.
Interesting - I've had the same problem a couple of times too.
CEO Jill McDonald said the firm continued to believe in the long-term growth potential of the cycling market and said - "we will buy up competitors where we can to avoid having to change the fact that we know nothing about bikes and will sell any old rubbish we can at a massively inflated profit margin"
