VecchioJo's cycling video round-up: crazy mountainbike air, frightening Frankenbikes, a glittery unicorn and some close-ups of socks.

Everything you need in a cycling video round-up including jumps, crashes, fixed wheels, a unicorn, and some left-over pizza

A change of curator and a brief swap to Wednesday this week for the video round-up, treat it as something to get you through Hump Day. When did the middle of the week get to be so hard that it deserved its own name? (Okay, we'll concede that this Wednesday might be a little worse than usual.)

None of these videos help to answer that one but we’ve got getting wet on purpose and unintentionally, tricks and stunts on mountainbikes, tricks and stunts on fixed wheels with added crashes and swearing, a love for all sorts of bikes, apart from that one. And a unicorn that farts glitter. Well, it is nearly Christmas.

Leftover pizza

We featured Matt Reyes bike riding pizza eating shenanigans in the previous video-roundup, here’s some leftovers from that shoot. Everyone loves cold leftover pizza right?

Kona experiences how bikes make London cool

As well as the name of one of their bikes Dr. Dew is the Senior Designer and Cultural Ambassador for Kona bikes. In this episode the vagabond traveler is in London with some friends (one of whom is Kona Factory Team CX rider Helen Wyman) and a handful of Kona's steel road bikes to investigate how bikes make cities cool. British cultural clichés abound.

Bike Kill 2016

It’s Mad Max meets your local sportive, or something. Best not take your Pinarello.

Taming the Tourmalet

Women’s cycle clothing brand Queen of the Mountains conquer the Col du Tourmalet, the most featured climb of the Tour de France. Alicia Bamford, founder of Queen of the Mountains, tackles the climb and gets all philosophical. Nice socks.

Watch a man loch his bike

It’s more exciting than it sounds. Irish BMX heavyweight Jason Phelan takes his BMX for a play on a boat on a loch. That’ll need a strip down and re-grease.

A unicorn bike that farts glitter?

Not much to add really, it’s all downhill from here. Luckily…

Dizzy headcam footage from the Red Bull Rampage

The Red Bull Rampage is a mountain bike competition held in Utah where the world’s best freeriders throw themselves off cliffs and do tricks whilst trying not to hurt themselves too badly. After crashing out last year trying this double backflip Antoine Bizet nailed it this year and secured 2nd place. Yep, that wasn’t good enough to win. I feel a bit sick now.

Lapse

A short film, or as this sort of thing is called - “sick edit”, featuring Canadian freeride mountain-biker Brandon Semenuk. Sweet riding, sweet car.

This weeks “just because you can doesn’t mean you should”

The prototype Twicycle allows you to pedal with either your feet, your arms, or both. A two-wheel drive, dual-power bicycle. Comes with free stares. And no friends.

Mor(than one)velo

More clothing based musings as Morvélo follow their test rider Sam Pantling around as he rides not one, but four bicycles showing that you can have fun experiences on whatever sort of bike you ride. Road, cross, mountain or fat? Ride everything. You can probably buy a piece of their clothing with that on.

The Good Times Are Killing Me

Saving the longest one for last, there’s 75 minutes of mucking about on fixed-wheel bikes to watch here. Over a year in the making “The Good Times Are Killing Me” is FOAD’s second and final full length feature, taking in 6 states, 2 countries and countless stairs, ledges, banks, and drainage ditches. You pretty much know what you’re letting yourself in for within the first ten seconds. Caution – contains rude words.

There you go, that should help you through the struggle that has become the middle of the week and ease you into the gentle slide towards the weekend (or global meltdown).

Jo Burt has spent the majority of his life riding bikes, drawing bikes and writing about bikes. When he's not scribbling pictures for the whole gamut of cycling media he writes words about them for road.cc and when he's not doing either of those he's pedaling. Then in whatever spare minutes there are in between he's agonizing over getting his socks, cycling cap and bar-tape to coordinate just so. And is quietly disappointed that yours don't He rides and races road bikes a bit, cyclo-cross bikes a lot and mountainbikes a fair bit too. Would rather be up a mountain.
