Sister of boy mugged for bike he received as Christmas gift crowdfunds money to buy replacement

The sister of a 13-year-old boy who was mugged on Boxing Day for a bike he had received as a Christmas present has run a successful crowdfunding campaign to pay for a replacement.

Freddie Colman was pushed off his bike when he was out riding with friends, with the attacker making off with it.

His sister Tara set up a Just Giving page to raise money for a new bike, with their parents having saved throughout the year to buy the one that was stolen.

She wrote: “My brother age 13, on Boxing Day morning was pulled and pushed off his new bike he got for Christmas, that his parents saved up months before to get for him.

“Please can we help get the bike back, in a way of a reward for its return or a new bike around the similar price and make, he is devastated and it has ruined his Christmas.

“He is a sweet little lad and wouldn't harm soul, he does not deserve this, he was left scared and upset.”

The £200 target has already been met.

Humberside Police told the Grimsby Telegraph: "A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the theft of a push bike on December 26, 2016.

"He has been released on bail and is due to appear before the Youth Court at Grimsby Magistrates Court on January 9."
