This week’s round-up has all the usual dependable video fodder; someone doing jumps and stuff, someone being reckless on a fixie, something epiiiiiiiiiiic and then something different and inspirational and finally something triangular, warm and comforting.
KELLYS - EVERY BIKE HAS A MISSION
Yes, we know it’s just a cheesey ‘inspirational’ video to sell your brand of bikes, but it really makes us want to just ride our bikes. Any bike.
Sam Pilgrim: The Fort
Here’s Sam Pilgrim, professional mountain biker freerider, and his mate Tom Cardy mucking about on their bikes in an abandoned WW2 fort in Harwich. Their level of mucking about may be higher than yours.
How NOT to overtake a group of cyclists
There are close passes and then there are close passes……
The Extreme Bike Brothers - That's Amazing
Extreme isn't enough any more, you have to go way past extreme, Sam and Joe Flanagan pair aren’t interested in well-worn paths like the rest of us, they much prefer yomping up a mountain in the Cairngorms and honing down on their mountainbikes.
Thinking beyond the limitations — A Skype Translator story
Something lovely about technology breaking down physical and language barriers here as Firas Warda, a young Syrian cyclist is in the middle of trying out for a place on the Marco Polo Cycling Team, uses Skype Translator to receive directions and encouragement from his coach. Not sure where he puts that iPad on his ride though.
6 Fixed Gear Trends of 2016
Who knew fixies were still a thing? Apparently they still are and there are even trends within the trend. Watch a man in his kitchen tell you all about it, and learn.
Ol’ Dirty Raven - Conocat Alleycat Miami
And breaking every rule is still a fixie thing too it appears. See how many highway violations this rider racks up in this video of a Miami alleycat race. Then he has a massive strop. (Caution, contains rude words)
L' A R T I C A I S C O M I N G
L’Artica is an event that’s in Lonigo near Vicenza in North Eastern Italy that’s in its fifth year in 2017. To be ridden on vintage bikes there are three courses to choose from across the barren and empty Winter countryside, the longest being 105 Km. As this is Italy the rides are well stocked with refreshment stops, get there by Sunday and you can join in.
Length of Sweden - warming up on a pizza
It’s been a bit nippy out lately hasn’t it? Has it been so cold you have to warm your face up on some pizza? Probably not. This is a snippet from the ‘Length Of Sweden’ film by Specialized released this week documenting a group of riders covering 21 hundred kilometers in a week to complete the world's longest brevet.
LENGTH OF SWEDEN / Trailer
And here’s the proper teaser from that film, it doesn’t have pizza/face bit in it though, which is why it’s up there, because it’s ace..
That should set you up for a Winter’s weekend, whatever sort of bike you’re riding, be sure and send us any pictures of needing to warm up on cosy foodstuffs
