I stand corrected! (I was purposely exagerating when I said Pidcock shouldered the bike most of the time)
Yeah forgot to say great achievement and tribute.
You're right. It was so icy that discs may not have helped much but clearance and wet weather performance couldn't have hurt. Although with everyone trying to crash on their left maybe rotors would have bent.
Amazing achievement and what a tribute for Charlie Craig. It was quite emotional to see.
Yes i noticed all three were on cantis. I'm not sure discs would have helped either.
In fact, I forgot the only trouble Pidcock had in the whole race was after a crash he had a mechanical with I think his rear canti brake that he had to jump off and fiddle with a few times.
'A few times' - he stopped briefly to put his straddle wire back on. Once!
By the way, I don't have a dog in the fight about brake systems. I race cross on cantis because that is what I already have. My wife runs discs, both are fine. I beat guys with discs, I am beaten by guys with discs. i have never been in a race where I wished I had better brakes, but i have wished i had better mud clearance.
Great news! Congratulations lads.
Chapeau
With a 3rd in the Women's U23 too from Evie Richards and Ffion James 11th.
Fantastic news. What a result. Couldn't offer a better tribute to Charlie & his family. And well done to all three of the lads. Chapeau!
