The son of Chris Sievey, the Manchester comedian and musician who created the Frank Sidebottom character, has been killed while riding his bike in Withington.
24-year-old Harry Sievey was pronounced dead at the scene after being involved in a collision with another cyclist and a Vauxhall Corsa on Mauldeth Road West near the junction with Wellington Road at around 10.15pm on Sunday.
The other cyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Manchester Evening News reports that a 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.
Senior Investigating Officer, Sergeant Lee Westhead, said: “We are currently investigating the full circumstances of this collision.
“I would firstly like to offer my sincere condolences to the family of the young man who died and specially trained officers continue to offer them their support.
“It is key we now try and establish exactly what happened and I would urge anyone who saw the collision to please call my team.
“If you saw anything in the moments beforehand, or recognise the vehicle from earlier that day, then I would also ask you to contact us with any information.”
Anyone with information can get in touch with the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Harry, a musician who worked at Manchester bar Cooper Hall, was the youngest of Chris Sievey’s three children. He gave the eulogy at his father’s funeral in 2010 and took part in fundraising for the Frank Sidebottom statue that was unveiled in Timperley in 2013.

A car hit two bikes in Mauldeth Road West, in Withington, Manchester, at about 22:15 GMT on Sunday.
A 24-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital where he later died and the other bike rider, a man aged 21, was treated for minor injuries.
It's the Evening News, they must get sent on special training to try and report as negatively as they possibly can on bike incidents.
There was one story recently where a cyclist who had stopped to help an injured person was branded a 'vigilante'.
Unfortunately if Harry's father wasn't famous they would have continued with their vicious brand of reporting and victim blaming but are now hurriedly re-editing their previous copy to try and pretend they are in some way sympathetic.
An outfit of absolute scum bags really.
"after being involved in a collision with another cyclist and a Vauxhall Corsa"
" a 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody"
Was he involved in a collision with another cyclist or were he and another cyclist hit by a dangerous driver - I suspect the latter but the reporting here is somewhat sketchy!
RIP young man!
