It's really, really, silly really. It is simply a marketing ploy. The 'desirability' is simply 'manipulated' to enhance Raleigh's market presence. They could just as easily have manufactured 10,000. Imagine if this was a start up company share that we could buy at .50p today, and sell tomorrow for $1.50. We'd be all over it and no-one would be crying foul. The only reason people can make a profit on these is because there are people who want one more than they do, and are willing to pay for it. Complaining about that is just daft. It's called capitalism, folks, and it's the sole reason we can sit here and be keyboard warriors on the internet.
Yes please to bringing back the Grifter. Never liked the Burner anyway.
if nobody buys the ones on eBay then the profiteers might think twice. They're able to do it because people are stupid enough to pay it. Material things. Same as concert tickets, new iPhone, computer games, etc. If people are prepared to pay silly money just so they can post photos on FB and Twitter then good luck to the profiteers!!
I'd rather be Burnerless than address my first post "to the idiots" and post it four times.
I was lucky enough to get one. I won't be selling. Was my dream bike as a kid. They are being delivered Thursday! No hanging about. To the idiots saying no one will pay that much.... Well people are paying that much!

Not sure what Raleigh are meant to do about this, exactly?
Start knocking out Grifters 19/12 at 3x the price?
Stop making the chopper with a stupid seat?
I registered for this sale but thought I wasn't willing to engage as I'd never ridden a BMX in anger like my BMX hero Tim March.
I certainly didn't want to prostitute my purchase on eBay!
did have a little look on eBay last week and some original Burners were available around £400 so not sure if these'profiteers' will realise much - apart from the fact that most genuine bidders think they're twats!
Nobody will buy at those prices. Not that I'm pissed off that I was at 5903 in the queue when they sold out or anything.
Didn't want one anyway.
And that, folks, is how you do an internet flounce.
Chapeau sir
I'm all for making a profi et all but at least wait a week or two. I would have kept it as is for a long time before selling, if I ever did sell which is doubful.
