Video: Curfew for driver filmed unleashing expletive-filled rant at cyclist

Scott Leaver also threatened to run cyclist over during 2016 incident in Putney

A London man who was filmed delivering a foul-mouthed tirade at a cyclist and threatened to run him over has been convicted of assault and public order offences.

Scott Leaver was sentenced to a three-month curfew from 8am-8pm in May at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court as a result of the incident, which happened close to East Putney Underground Station in August 2016.

He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and was sentenced to a community order after pleading guilty to the charges.

The cyclist, called Mike, uploaded footage of the incident to YouTube last week.

He was preparing to overtake a bus that had pulled into a stop when he realised that Leaver was about to overtake, too.

He moved to the left, but when he rode by Leaver’s vehicle moments later was subjected to a torrent of abuse, with Leaver getting out of his car and threatening to run him over.

“You're in the f*cking way of me,” he told him.

“You see your camera? Stick that up your f*cking arse. Right?

"Don't f*cking mess about with me, c*nt.

“You was in my f*cking way,” he added. “Get in front of me again I'll f*cking run you straight over c*nt."

There have being times when I really thought I'd want to smash my bike through the windscreen  or give the driver a good hard slap the next criminal that made me feel fear of harm , but I haven't. I've smashed my fist into a bonnet when rear ended and the driver subsequently tried to drive away by driving right at me, i've smacked a re-enforced perspex panel on a bus (hard enough to badly bruise my hand) when the silly cunt driver tried to off me and then claimed not to have seen me and I've called drivers plenty of words but I haven't twatted anyone in 30+ years as a serious road rider, well done to me frankly.

You should probably look at seeking some help for your anger issues.

Case in point.  I'd imagine you just got laughed off the road after responding like this:

"But c'mon big man, if you want to get it on sowe can discuss the niceites of you calling me a liar, i'll fucking crush you like a grape loud mothed twat!

I'm on the CUK forum, you can message me there and let's get this sorted, any time, any place. But you won't because you're loud mothed cowardly cunt troll who accuses people of lying without a scrap of evidence then gets all keyboard warrior when outed as talking shite.

I'll be waiting for you twat!"

You should really start touring with this stuff as it's hilarous!  At least you're good at something. And as for apologising for calling out utter BS?  Good luck with that.  The stories in your original post are bigger work of fiction than The Bible. you mighty, mighty keyboard warrior.

Getting angry at the selfish, unreasonabe behaviour of others who threaten your life seems quite reasonable to me, but then, I react similarly, and I'd imagine 99% of people would.  Getting angry when someone threatens your life seems perfectly natural to me.

What isn't natural is to threaten someone's life just because you have the  power to do so and you're feeling callous, that's why we have laws to deal with that sort of thing.  The only problem is that those laws don't seem to apply to drivers.

Fat boy 100% in the wrong, but, and I know this is tough, please try and just ride on by everyone. Every time anyone (cyclist, fellow driver, pedestrian) criticises a motorist, no matter how politely, you are effectively saying "You're a prick." The outcome is never good and one day it'll be really bad.

Take the moral high ground. Some people cannot be educated. Probably most motorists. Probably many cyclists. Definitely everyone who drives like him.

Oh, and of course I have failed in adhering to this numerous times, but I'm getting much better.

Because appeasement always works out so well?

Most bullies, like this gentleman, are all bark and no bite.

Would rather have seen him given a suspended sentence for threatening behaviour and be banned from driving for 3 months.

The cartoon-decorated , child-car is the first sign that something is wrong.

Can't they put him down or something?  I'm not talking about a blow to the back of the neck or anything cruel like that, just an injection.

Sadly, I suspect that this is too low a penalty.  If anything he's got to show what a hard man he is for a mere 85 quid.

What happens if a gun-owner threatens to kill people with it?

Exactly. Gun license would be revoked and quite possibly refused in any future applications. So why was his drivers license not revoked or suspended or just simply banned indefinitely, considering our driving licenses are a privilege and not a given right. He obviously doesn't deserve to have said privilege.

Look, kids, a sweary blancmange.

Only a matter of time before heart disease does the world a favour with that one.
