Video: Striking film sees Alec Briggs and pals escape London for the country

Four riders from the new Tekkers team will take on Red Bull Timelaps in Windsor Great Park this weekend

Here’s one of the most striking road cycling videos we’ve seen for a while, from Red Bull as part of its RAW 100 video series, with this one produced in association with Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer.

It features Londoner Alec Briggs plus three colleagues from his new Tekkerz cycling team as they head out of the capital on a training ride and into the countryside.

Tekkerz will make its debut this weekend at the new Red Bull Time Laps at Windsor Great Park, where road.cc also has two teams racing – one made up of staff, the other of readers.

Briggs grew up racing at Herne Hill Velodrome and has developed all-round skills – an accomplished cyclo-cross rider, he also finished third at this year’s London round of the Red Hook Crit.

The watch he is wearing is a TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45. The brand, owned by French luxury powerhouse LVMH and sponsor of the BMC Racing UCI WorldTour team, lists 57 separate versions of the model on its website.

Prices range from £1,200 to £5,700, depending on specification.

Here’s the rather striking Specialized Allez Sprint with custom paint job that he’s riding.

Simon joined road.cc as news editor in 2009 and is now the site’s community editor, acting as a link between the team producing the content and our readers. A law and languages graduate, published translator and former retail analyst, he has reported on issues as diverse as cycling-related court cases, anti-doping investigations, the latest developments in the bike industry and the sport’s biggest races. Now back in London full-time after 15 years living in Oxford and Cambridge, he loves cycling along the Thames but misses having his former riding buddy, Elodie the miniature schnauzer, in the basket in front of him.

Sensible head says silly moves between the buses there. Could encourage furious cycling.

When you're wearing a £5,700 watch that displays text messages, the usual rules don't apply.

Give the impression that the watch isn't really relevant at all!

Nice scenery, but it's hard to make a road biking video really interesting.
