HM Coastguard helicopter via DfT on FlickrVideo: Helicopter rescues cyclist stranded on beach in Cornwall
A cyclist stranded on a beach in Conwall as the tide came in was winched to safety by the crew of a search and rescue helicopter.
The dramatic incident happened yesterday afternoon near Port5howan in the north of the county.
The Falmouth Coastguard helicopter was scrambled after members of the St Agnes Coastguard Search and Rescue team, who posted footage to Facebook, realised that the tide was coming in too quickly for them to be able to effect a clifftop rescue in time.
Meanwhile, the St Agnes RNLI lifeboat was standing by offshore in case the man was swept out to sea.
The fate of the bicycle was not revealed.

Clearly it should have been "velocipede".
Presumably 'Port5howan' is someone from the wrong side of the Tamar's attempt to spell 'Porthtowan'?
