The hire bikes start at 10,000 IIRC, the 00001 is probably just a case of someone slapping a number on the bike and picking number 1.

A very neat summation of bicycle helmets, well done Guardian.  If only the rest of the media, especially the BBC, would get the message.  Cue "helmet saved my life" stories.

Just watched the Grauniad video and it pretty much sums up my views on mandatory helmets for cyclists.
