The family of a man found dead at home in Bristol have appealed for the return of his bike after it was stolen from his flat.
Steven Jefferies was found in an unresponsive state by officers from Avon & Somerset Constabulary on the morning of Monday 18 June at his home in Hartcliffe, reports the Bristol Post.
The 46-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers had visited him at the flat the previous evening due to concerns about his welfare.
His bike is believed to have stolen from the flat on Friday 22 June, with his family saying they had not had a chance to enter the premises to retrieve his possessions.
They are now appealing for the return of the bike, which they said would have had a Kryptonite lock on it and which they want to keep due to its sentimental value.
The Boardman hybrid bike has disc brakes and is painted black with orange accents and a black and blue saddle.
The family said that the bottle cages shown in a picture they supplied of the bike to the Bristol Post would have been removed, and that the silver bar ends had been replaced by black ones.
The newspaper said that Mr Jefferies’ death has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) because of the visit of officers to his home the previous evening.
Anyone with information about the burglary or the stolen bicycle is requested to contact Avon & Somerset Constabulary on 101.
