news

road.cc is the BikeBiz consumer website of the year!

Good night for smaller independent publishers at the bike industry awards

We're number 1! And we've got a shiny award to prove it! On Wednesday night the road.cc team attended the BikeBiz industry awards, along with over 200 of the cycle industry's great and good, and walked away with the gong for best consumer website. And to top off a great night, our pals at Singletrack also won, getting the award for best consumer mag for the second year in a row.

So we'd like to take this opportunity to thank... you. Everyone that's reading. Without the cut and thrust of the interaction with everyone that uses the site, road.cc would be a shadow of what it is now. So thanks for reading, and getting involved, and we hope that you'll keep coming back: our aim is to make road.cc the first port of call for road cyclists in the UK and we've got lots of plans for how we'd like to make the site even better.

We'd like your input too: we want to win again next year, and that means raising our game! So get commenting on this story and tell us what you'd like to see from road.cc in the next year, and we'll do our level best to keep on making the site better and more useful for UK road cyclists.

We'd also like to say a big thank you all our advertisers – without them there'd be no site – and everyone who's been involved with developing the site over the past two years. We've come a long way from a camper van in the car park of Eurobike in 2008* and we want to keep on growing.

*not that our accommodation at the show has really improved. But you know what we mean.

Dave is a founding father of road.cc, having previously worked on Cycling Plus and What Mountain Bike magazines back in the day. He also writes about e-bikes for our sister publication ebiketips. He's won three mountain bike bog snorkelling World Championships, and races at the back of the third cats.

Probably something along these lines Tony. Not too many as eveything then gets split up and split up but I think we need a few more than the STW model. I think they are fairly unique that everything basically goes in one or t'other.

Racing - From the Pro Peloton to the local evening 10.

Tech or Know How

Rides For those that want to meet up could maybe include Sportives.

A Gallery

Tea Stop would leave be for the time being, if traffic picked up it would probably take on a life of its own. We could put in a few popular culture threads in the meantime or dare I say it a word association thread.

Just my tuppence.

Well done for creating a refreshing website/news for road users.

Forum needs improving but needs more people! but not like Singletrack world -terrible attitudes. On second thought lets just it how it is.

Road and Chat forums seems the way to attract more people.

Err how about free jerseys to us readers to help with the promotion marketing of course lol.

Congrats lads, well done.

I would like to see the Forum a bit busier maybe having a few more categories would help rather than the current 3.

Congratulations guys and gals.

road.cc has become my first port of call everyday and long may it continue.

As a former mtb'er it's also good to see Singletrack picking up an award too. I found road.cc because of a link on their site.

Same here. I like the tone and the mix of pro racing, commuter / road safety stuff and leisure news you provide along with sensible reviews - it is a good mix. I also arrived via STW, though am more roadie than MTBer. What got me hooked was a really nice video interview with my favourite pro rider, Carlos Sastre.

... anyway, no more time for resting on laurels - get back to work! 3

Brilliant news... road.cc is rapidly becoming my favourite site, and I'm always checking in to see what's up. Lots of shiny bits and planty of humour... keep up the great work!

Well, as executive editor of BikeBiz, I'd like to formally congratulate you via your own site.

One of the key reasons for your success has got to be the stunning number of news stories you get online, and so swiftly. That and the good writing, of course.
