Interesting that there are no descriptions or other information given about the other vehicle involved (presumably a car or van?). Was it a 'hit and run'?
If the driver has insurance then it won't really make much difference to them personally. Points on the licence or a ban would be better.
Would she be in the position to take the driver to court for loss of earnings relating to any missed races etc? I think it's the only way drivers are going to start taking more care is if they think they're going to be financially penalised if they knock someone off.
