HTC Highroad unveil 2011 kit

Gone is man of steel, in are softer retro lines

HTC, Highroad, Columbia. Pick two of the three and you've got yourself a WorldTour cycling team; for 2011 it's HTC Highroad, which was the only remaining unused combination. For next season they've eschewed their six-pack/body armour designs of the last couple of years in favour of something more minimal.

The pic above shows Tony Martin sporting the new strip, which is mainly white with a striped motif. It looks a bit retro and puts us in mind (a bit) of the PDM cycling team jerseys from the late '80s. Remember them? these ones:

Anyway, a thumbs up from the road.cc offices as we think it's a definite improvement on the man-of-steel look from the last two years, even if that did sum up the Manx missile's performances rather well. here's hoping the new softer design doesn't take the edge off his sprinting...

Looks good, white is all the rage I guess...

as an aside, it's a shame that garmin cervelo have seemingly ditched the argyle.

not totally, but it has been reduced to a detail. road.cc, on the other hand, will be keeping the faith.

This new kit is soooo much better than the last two years, which I thought was a bit of a mess. The blue top + black shorts of Columbia three years ago was even better. I hope they wear black shorts.

Always thought the PDM kit was pretty styley. Well, for the 80s.
