Malcolm Shepperd hospitalized after incident with van

Sustrans CEO Malcolm Shepherd is now recovering at home after being seriously injured when he was knocked off his bike by a van last month. The incident happened on one of the busiest streets in Bristol, Park St Bristol on the 24th of March when Mr Shepherd was cycling to work. 

According to a report on BikeBiz Mr Shepherd suffered fractures to his skull, knee, and hand and is expected to be off work for up to two months. The injuries to Mr Sheperd's knee required surgery and he was hospitalized for a week.

The senior management team at Sustrans have between them taken on responsibility for carrying out the various functions of  Mr Shepherd's role as CEO in his absence, a Sustran's spokesperson told road.cc. It is not known whether the incident in which Mr Shepherd was injured has led to any legal proceedings being taken against the van driver.

I reckon Park St. has got to be one of the most dangerous streets in Bristol for cyclists and pedestrians. I avoid it at all times. I wish Mr Shepherd a speedy recovery.
